He basically said he thought it was gonna be a quick decision, Hocutt was gonna go with someone who knew the South Plains, a younger coach who could put his stamp on Tech basketball, an up and comer who knew the Big 12, who already understood Tech and its fanbase.

It was hilarious. A lot of his audience probably had no idea he was hinting or to whom he was hinting, but it was pretty evident.

Sounds like Grant...I just saw an Athletic article that says Grant. And Kellen Sampson. Kelvin's son. are top of the list.

Yeah, Fran is a coach's coach and so you knew he wasn't going to say the name of a coach whose team is still playing, whether it was McCasland, Kellen Sampson (and I've seen Paul Mills name mentioned by a couple of reasonably connected media guys).

Oh, if it happens, they're not going to like being reminded of that. Obviously, we'll have to do it a lot.

Their program is built on our backup coaches and backup players.

Any coach who wants that job has to be careful. They won't deal with Kirby but Womble and others who run the program. Coach needs to be a hand slapper and attend all the functions and provide access to team to donors. They will have to meet with donors regularly.

I love McCasland and believe he is a good fit. Both of my eyes are on Joey. Just watch TT fans if he has same year as last year or worse.

They will go after Tang. I'm not sure what the buyout is.

If Womble gets his way (and he generally does), McCasland will be the next coach at TT, unless Grant decides he doesn't want it.

Lot of Black Friday firings so far. Anderson at St. Johns .. they're going after Pitino ..and Pastner at Georgia Tech...that program has underachieved mightily..great school in a great city and fertile recruiting grounds.

Correct. McCasland left Baylor for Arkansas State prior to the 2016-2017 season.

How funny would it be in a couple years if you had Drew..Tang.. McCassland..and Mills coaching in Big 12... would be quite a testament to what Drew has built.

I don't think Matt Driscoll is long for his job unfortunately.

I don't think that scenario is too far off. If Ok State misses the tourney this year and again next, Mills may very well be in line in Stillwater.

Looks like McCassland and Pitino are the leaders in the clubhouse..not Richard..but 71 year old Rick.
