The team is leaving tonight to prepare for the altitude in Denver.

Good idea..but Denver at 5280 ft never bothered me...even on my 53rd bday a month recovered from Covid.

But Santa Fe at 7200 ft knocked me on my ass when I was 35.

last time we played at altitude, to my recollection, in the NCAAs worked out pretty good for us...

Brady H3slip went off!

I'm 73 and have lived full time in Santa Fe the past 8 years.

We live at 7300' and walk fast at least 4 miles daily. The altitude never bothered me when I came here from Midland or Dallas to ski in the 80's, 90's and 00's, and it doesn't bother me now, although I do find myself feeling less winded and getting easier deep breaths when I'm at low elevation.

I'm fortunate that I always acclimated easily to the altitude. I've had friends come here from Texas who were in excellent cardiovascular condition, and they suffered terribly with fatigue and headaches (and even nausea) for a couple of days.

It's kind of like when I was in the Navy and learned that being seasick had nothing to do with conditioning or toughness. Tough old Navy chiefs who had been at sea off and on for 25 years would get seasick every time the went out to sea the first time if they had been on land for a few weeks, but a raw rookie sailor whose body simply didn't mind the movement at sea would never get sick. I think altitude sickness is somewhat the same way...you get it or you don't, but time is the great healer.

It makes good sense to fly on Tuesday to give time for the body and brain to acclimate. It really isn't about conditioning as much as it's about whether or not the altitude bothers you.

Could've just been an excuse for Scott to get to Denver early and join Bryce, Homer and Mark Few for a few doubles pickleball tomorrow. I believe GCU and Gonzaga are arriving as well.

You're probably right...I've had friends get seasick on cruises that I barely felt anything...yeah that time in Santa Fe was my first time ever anywhere at altitude...I had just ran a marathon the year before..so I was in good shape...but walking from the grocery store to my hotel in the downtown square was like a mile I had to stop and sit down to catch my breath.

I get wicked seasickness on small boats. Fishing has turned into an undesirable hobby. Cruise ships dont bother me though.

We went to New Mexico a couple of years ago, and I was amazed how quickly I got winded on our hike in Taos. I could definitely feel the altitude difference.
