TCU reached the region final (Elite 8) in 1967-68 the region semifinals (Sweet 16) in 1951-52, 1952-53 and 1958-59. So they have made it that deep. Correct. Yates had 2 big dogs back then: everybody was chasing Rickie Winslow, who went to UH and was a freshman on the last Phi Slama Jama team that lost to Ewing and Georgetown in the 1984 finals. Killingsworth didn't go after Winslow but put all his efforts into courting Holcombe. Once Olajuwon/Young/Micheaux moved on, Winslow never really developed.
