And as a corollary, Northwestern has the next to fewest wins (2) in the tourney among P5 schools. Know who has the fewest?

Huskers are 0-7 all time in the NCAAs. Their last appearance was their first round loss to BU in San Antonio in 2014. Ironically, they have been to the NIT 19 times and won it in 1996.

Northwestern was the last school to ever make the NCAAs (in 2017). But they won their 1st round game that year, and again this year in their second ever appearance.

I can remember arguing with someone on the old forum who kept guaranteeing me just because they hired Hoiberg, Nebraska would become a B1G power and be in the NCAA's every year thereafter. Although, too his credit they were actually competitive this year.

I wonder what the "fewest tournament wins with a Natl. Championship" would be? Probably someone back in the 40's/50's.

Holy Cross and CCNY are good guesses because the tournament only had 8 teams with 3 rounds back then.CCNY is the only school to win a championship that is no longer a member of D-1.Holy Cross did win a tournament game less than 10 years ago.Holy Cross alums include Bob Cousy and Tom Heinson.

Based on limited research I think CCNY has only 4 ncaa tournament wins and Holy Cross has 8.

Gotta be CCNY. The year after they won both the NCAA and NIT in 1950 they got shut down for a point shaving scandal similar to the Black Sox. They dropped to Division III thereafter.

Holy Cross has made 13 trips to the NCAAs and has 8 wins. Most recently won a First Four over Southern in 2016. They won the NCAAs in 1947, then lost to Kentucky in the Final Four in 1948; we beat Kansas St in the semis then lost to UK.

Interesting stuff.

I think I read CCNY is the only school to win a championship that is no longer Division 1.

I stand corrected: KansasSt lost the 1951 championship game to Kentucky.

UT has been to 3 FFs (1943, 1947, 2003) and lost in the semis each time. ND's only FF was 1978 with Adrian Dantley.
