Keyonte George or Johnson?

I'll be very interested to see how many juniors and seniors are taken by the NBA this year. They usually like to scoop them up as soon as possible and integrate them into their system, even if it involves G-League.

However much George improves over the next three years, it wouldn't be exponentially more so by staying at Baylor.

Prince played multiple years of college ball because he had to. He needed that time to develop his body and his game before appearing on any NBA radars.

I understand that. But he left college a much more polished product than Keyonte George is. He's still in the league now because he entered the NBA an NBA-ready player. Former one-and-done rookies wash out after short and uneventful careers every year because they didn't.

To me, the advantage isn't in the short term or the first contract. It's in the second. Those who arrive in the NBA ready for the NBA are far more likely to still be playing four, five, six years down the road than those who are trying to find their way on the fly.

No doubt plenty of one and done players end up NBA busts. And plenty of 3 and 4 year college players wash out also. My point being, since Keyonte George is projected to go mid to late first round, there is much more risk for him staying another year (injury or falling draft stock) versus him going and getting paid first round money.

I don't think the issue is George but all one-and-dones. How many one-and-dones actually make it in the NBA. I have no data over the last several years but would love to see it.

In my experience, many top freshman tend to fade later in the season. I think the NCAA grind for MBB, especially in the Big 12, is a challenge. Look at how strong the Big 12 is in preseason and non-conference games and how we do in the tournament.

Some of theses young players haven't been through this grind. I think you will see many teams move closer to bringing in 21-22 year olds through the portal with some key freshman. Their bodies are more mature and their experience might be equal to the talent of a one-and-done at the collegiate level.

I hope we don't become Kentucky or Duke that relies so heavily on one-and-dones. While the NBA considers eliminating the one year playing requirement, I think they should expand it to at least 2 years.

Both are one and done. Tang got Johnson we got George. Kansas State beat us twice and are in the Sweet 16. I think we got the short end but good for Tang. If George ends up being the better NBA player I will be shocked. If George ends up as a starter in the NBA, I will be shocked. I will be rooting for him.

Great. I've already said I'm rooting for him. I wouldn't put to much stock in getting hot in the 4th quarter of a meaningless summer league game but if you do then great.

I didn't mean to strike a nerve…You're rooting for him.
