This is a nice list of schools and legendary teams to be compared to.

Cool being a legendary team to be compared to

The only thing defeating Baylor in 2021 was covid

Maybe the only thing defeating Baylor in 2020 was Covid. Would the Baylor 2020 team have won the NC?

Pretty darn good chance.

I think that was Kansas. We would've been a 1-seed in 2020 most likely, but KU was rising as we were stumbling with a few bad losses into the ultimately terminated postseason. Would've liked to see it though.

We were looking unstoppable and had just mopped the floor with a very good UT team at their house when forced to endure the multi-week Covid pause. Without that highly damaging interruption there's a great chance we would've also been undefeated going into the Natty game and would also have had a B12 Conference Tourney Title on the resume as well.

Who knows? Heck, it might have been Baylor v Kansas for the natty. Probably not. Losing 3 of the last 5 games did not bode well for the post season.

It's possible that we would have had a tourney run very similar to 2021 still playing Gonzaga. The difference is that in 2021 we were better. An extra year of practice & playing real games against some tough opponents helped the team improve.

It's all speculation anyway.

The biggest regret from 2020, besides no post season, is that Freddie & Devonte were not part of the natty team.

The point I think is that looking back on that season and the way everyone was playing at the time of the stoppage, Kansas fans by far should be the most sick about it.

Just like Alabama and Houston this year and Gonzaga last year.
Being the #1 overall seed means nothing.

We would have had as good a shot as any other school to win the 2020 National Title.

It's not "just like" anything because nobody played in 2020. Everyone in the top 10 felt aggrieved when the season tanked, but if I was a Kansas fan I'd be especially butthurt about it.

Baylor is top 10 all time if you combine mens and womens hoops.

Makes sense, considering what the two programs have achieved over the past decade or so.

I wonder what criteria was used for this ranking. I don't see how Texas belongs in this list but maybe they have had high levels of success long ago.

Cows still getting mileage out of their 1986 WBB title.

Iowa is the only one on the list without a natty in either.

Tennessee is the only one who has never made a Men's FF. Kentucky, UCLA, KU, Indiana and Villanova have never made a Women's FF, but their MBB achievements more than make up for it.

Purdue has only the one WBB title in 1999 or so. I would tend to think IU's multiple MBB titles would trump Purdue's dubious achievement of the record for most men's NCAA tournament games without winning a championship.

KU was the favorite. BU was right behind though. With a tournament you never know but KU and BU had a great chance to go the final four. Worked out better as Butler and Teague probably leave if the tourney goes down.

KU 20' was miles better than this years Bama and Houston. Bama was good but young and Houston struggled all year against top line talent. Houston and Bama had big question marks that were never really answered.

To your point KU 20' was really good as was BU 20'. Ku was just probably just a step above all the other teams that year. This year no team really stood out except for UConn outside the Big East and healthy UCLA.

And arguably we had a better team in 2020-21.

In 2020 we were as good as everybody including Kansas and could have won it all. But we weren't better.

In 2021 we were flat out better than everyone else. We also got every team in the Tournament's A game that played us and we're gifted nothing by luck in 2021. Truly one of the best college teams ever when combing talent, experience, balance, and depth.

We were gifted no major injuries and as the 2022 team can attest there is some luck in that so I correct myself.

Not just the COVID pause. COVID pause on top of the electoral grid/winter storm snafu.

My only concern with 2020 was the injuries going into the tournament. Teague wasn't fully healthy and it is what cost us the win at home against KU. I don't think we would have had a team at 100% health for the NCAA tournament and that made the prospects of winning that tournament much more dicey.
