Ticket prices at FC for courtside lower bowl: $300 + $300 BBF donation = $600

Similar tickets at Tiny Arena: $750+ $1000-1750 BBF donation = $1750-2500

Divide that by the 16-17 home games per year and that's $100+ per ticket per game. And don't forget: at least 7 of the expected 16 home games will still be played at FC (assuming they meet their construction target of being ready for conference play in January).

I'm roughly halfway in priority. The BBF email said there are 274 Phase 1 accounts with 1243 season tickets, and 1280 Phase 2 accounts with 3994 season tickets (5237 season tickets total). At my level, I'm around # 596 in priority with about 2700 season tickets ahead of me. So here's the ticket conundrum: what if a fair number of higher priority folks do like T-Rex and say "F#%& it, I'm trading down my seats instead of paying 3X as much"? What if the more reasonably (relatively speaking) seats sell out first and by the time they get to the lower donors the only seats left are ones that require much higher BBF donations?

Then there's the parking issue. The mayor posted on FB about the parking garage this past weekend, which is being built by the city (https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=792946195615751&set=a.107073057536405). So far it's on schedule to be "parkable" by January, with facade and finishout work to conclude next summer. So what if the arena is finished before the parking garage? Or vice versa? If there is a delay, I would imagine it would be easy, with electronic tickets, for BU to retract tickets for Tiny and reissue them for FC if needed.

Mayor says the new garage will have 455 spaces. Currently, there are 770 numbered reserved spaces at FC south of the main drive off U-P. Plus, there is a separate reserved lot for media across the main drive. Of the numbered spaces, it seems like 30-40 of them near the practice facility entrance are taken up on game days by coaches, players, staff, cheerleaders, etc. In addition to the new garage, it appears there are about 60-70 surface lot spaces at Robinson Tower. I presume those will be available on game day, and perhaps this would be media/staff parking, thus leaving the garage for season ticket holders only.

But given current numbers, up to 300 or more who currently have reserved parking at FC will lose it. Maybe they will use the new parking lot behind the new Hurd Howdy Hut for the remaining reserved parking. Anyone else who parked in the unreserved FC lots, or at the 2nd street garage, will be faced with long, long walks or an even longer shuttle ride.

And one last thing: if the new garage has 455 spaces, guess who has had parking space #456 at FC for the last 10-12 years?

This guy.

Found my BBF email with priority rankings from February. Here's a comparison of that one and the one released over the weekend.

Total accounts/tickets:
Feb/23: 1401/4736
May/23: 1555/5267

Phase 1:
Feb/23: 225/1052
May/23: 274/1243

  • FEB MAY
  • Tier 1: 6/28 13/78
  • Tier 2: 3/16 3/14
  • Tier 3: 15/80 18/90
  • Tier 4: 11/45 15/59
  • Tier 5: 10/39 16/71
  • Tier 6: 47/219 83/403
  • Tier 7: 133/635 126/528

Phase 2:
Feb/23: 1176/3684
May/23: 1281/4024

  • FEB MAY
  • $30K: 4/22 4/22
  • $20K: 5/18 4/16
  • $15K: 31/102 34/127
  • $12K: 46/185 60/244
  • $9K: 70/285 50/183
  • $7K: 58/196 61/202
  • $5K: 132/429 137/450
  • $3K: 223/689 225/679
  • $1.5K: 248/729 254/742
  • $750: 140/406 171/552
  • $400: 219/623 281/807

The May update shows 2,340 lower level seats at Foster (by comparison, I'm guessing Ferrell has somewhere between 3,000 and 3,500 seats from Row 17 and below, where the concourse entrances are). The 2,340 total runs out before you get all the way through the $5K donor level in Phase 2, so everyone at the $3K level and below is pretty much going to be relegated to the upper corners or the very top of upper level courtside.

College sports are getting more and more expensive. Try to get a Baylor basketball ticket in Austin.

My worry is the big cigars from Dallas and Houston or other 2+ hour drives away are going to buy 4-6 tickets to every home game but only make the weekend games while students get locked out of weekday games because there are not enough seats for them.

Hopefully, Baylor has a system for big cigar ticket buyers to sell their seats to other Baylor fans or give them to students when they are not using them. I know it's the way of the world but it's not ideal for the team or other fans for those seats to go unused.

Not because of ticket prices.
And most of the no shows at Ferrell were the 'Jumbo Shrimpers' that bought up the black chairs on the floor but only came to the Kansas & Texas games.

Relax. There's always a positive to every situation. The new arena looks so small that a top row seat at Foster may feel like a courtside seat at the FC.

I said in a post a few months ago in the Random Arena Updates thread that the view of the court at Foster from the top row of the upper deck is roughly equivalent, in both height and distance from the court, to the view of the court at Ferrell from the banners hanging in the rafters.

I had MBB season tickets in 2019 & 2021 and saw a lot of great games. I managed to see quite a few individual games in other years going back to 2017. It looks like that will probably never happen again.

I was beginning to think I would never see a game inside the Foster & this confirms that suspicion. Apparently that is now only for the rich which does not describe all of us alumni. At least I probably will have ESPN+. C'est la vie.

Yeah. I don't see that happening in the new arena for decent games. At least for a long time. Maybe for Texas Weslyn or Prairie View games.

At $300 a pop in 2023, maybe so. At $750 a pop for worse seats in 2024, not so much.

$750 is 1. Not the cheapest seat, $400 is, & 2. $750 is still a cheaper price than many for what is a better seat than what $750 gets you in a lot of other arenas. Tickets in FC should have been way more than they have been. It's hilariously cheap to watch a national title winning team from row 10 for $350 a ticket which is what I have been owning. Equivalent seats in any other arena, without a big 12 title nor natty, would be a grand minimum just for the ticket cost.

The worst seat in Foster is equivalent to row 20ish in FC. And for only about $50 more than the $350 those seats have cost. If your comparing prices to the $150 GA seats then your setting yourself up for disappointment. GA should have never been below concourse level and honestly should have never existed in the first place. I'm glad the only GA in Foster is standing room area. $400 will get you in the door to what will be one of the best arenas in the nation to watch a top level program. If you don't find the value there, then I can't help you. Try getting season tickets for $400 that aren't 3x worse than the highest seat in Foster in other big 12 arenas. Baylor will still be cheaper than most

IIRC, I paid $150 for GA seats in 2021. 2019 was even less. I usually had a pretty decent seat even for Kansas, Texas or Villanova. Season ticket prices have more than doubled & thus are beyond my budget. I may be willing to pay a premium for an individual game against a marquis opponent. I probably define "premium" differently than most & I won't pay that for SFA, NW State or Central Arkansas.

To be honest these days I'm finally get more and more difficult to make the 85 mile trip anyway. I don't expect to see any games in the Foster for awhile if ever. I can settle for TV.

what? No lol.

Cheapest seat in Foster is $400 plus $75 seat option. Cheapest seat in McLane is $375 plus $25 seat option. That's a total of $75 difference overall between foster & McLane with your per game cost in McLane being $50 & Foster being $28 based on 18 home games which is usually about what we have each season.

I pay 350 a seat for my tickets in section 110 at McLane. Anywhere but the worst seat at Foster will be at least double that.

Will season ticket buyers pay these prices this season when only 9-10 games will presumably be played in Foster or will it be prorated assuming best case scenario is January.
And how will they do the seating for November/December games at FC?

yea we will pay cuz we will also pay it the next season for the full szn of games.. & as I already pointed out b4, per game cost in Foster is cheaper than mclane & is still so even with seats costing more then the cheapest.

If any of yall really thought foster wouldn't be this expensive or at least close to it then u set your self up for disappointment. FC was cheapest venue in big 12, and u got what u paid for amenity wise. Cost should have already been higher being a p5 team & even higher given we won a natty. We still won't be close to most expensive arena.

We love to say baylor degrees get u good jobs but we won't pay for competitively priced tickets?

Also mclane is cheap. I shouldn't have seats on row 6 in the 100s for $350 & only a $25 seat option. KU charges more for that lol

KU is more expensive because they force you to buy football season tickets and make sure they're used in order to be able to buy basketball season tickets. It's just the basic extortion scheme by the KU athletic department.

What Baylor is wanting for these seats is still insane, and at these prices there are going to be a lot of empty seats or people are going to lose the farm trying to re-sell.
