The better Baylor kids do in the league, the better our pitch to blue chips gets in preparing them to get there. Our best NBA player in this era is who, Royce O'Neale? Much as I love Off Night, still waiting for that breakthrough - Key might be it.
We're not having any trouble recruiting high school blue chippers. We're currently recruiting at the highest level we ever have, with or without an NBA star.
And yet there are even higher levels to attain, helped in large measure by NBA breakthroughs. The best recruits are asking two questions:

1. How good are you at prepping elite players for the league, and where are your receipts
2. Do you have a stable, winning situation

We can strongarm a few blue chip guys just on the back of #2 for a time while the glow of the national title is still relatively bright, but you add the #1 punch to the recruiting combo year over year and that's how you become Kansas, Duke or Kentucky.

We just had 3 guys picked in the middle of the first round the last three years so we are well on the road to being on the same tier as Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, etc.

I liked the post that Keyonte gave it his all. It is a weird take that a guy plays not fully healthy because it is Tournament time and he is accused of saving his body for the NBA.

The "Key Note" branding basically sells itself to Jazz fans.

Lighting it up. In shape, great A / TO ratio, better shot efficiency. Defense has still been spotty in the games I've seen but such an offensive threat when on you'll take that and work on it as they go.

Injured same ankle, so his SL is done. But showed enough IMO to be in Utah rotation.

3. How much NIL money can you give me.

The one-and-done guys don't really prioritize NIL money. They know they will be making millions within one calendar year. They are looking for an experience that can showcase and develop their talent. We have the ball rolling in that regard, and coming off the heels of a Natty they know they will get the March Madness experience in their one year with us as well.

100%. Not to say it plays no role at all, but if NIL was a real decision-making factor for NBA lottery guys, Key and Walter wouldn't be in Waco and we wouldn't be on Tre Johnson's final 6 list.

Good point. I hope it stays that way.

It's so cool that we are now pretty much a lock for the tourney every year.
