Realignment is primarily driven by football, but here's a basketball note:

Several Big 12 coaches wanted to go back to a round-robin format during league play if the Big 12 stayed at 12 teams and play 22 league games.

22 conference games would be a huge number, especially in this league! Good thing it's now off the table. The good news is that they can still have something similar, with home & home games with several others, just not all.

If conferences keep getting bigger, might as well have home and home over two seasons. That could still become 15, 17, 19, or 21 conference games.
