Baylor and Texas

Grayson mentioned this yesterday. He said it's either VJ or Tre. An either or situation essentially.

To be clear, he was saying VJ is hot enough on Baylor that he thought we would sign him if Tre goes UT?

Correct. He was very very adamant were getting 1 of the 2

I am rooting for Tre then just to keep him from Texas. I want VJ too but if he doesn't go here he will likely go Duke or Alabama or some other school not UT.

Texas will pay any amount of money not lose to us however.

Thing that sticks out with me in watching VJ (from my laptop) is a real defensive instinct. Moves without the ball well, has a smooth stroke from 3 (will need to speed it up a bit at the next level). Astonishing a Long Island kid is high on Baylor.

His tape is impressive!! I don't typically watch HS tape until kids are committed. Decides to check out these 2. Can't go wrong with either! It'll be interesting to see which one we land

I have assumed that Baylor doesn't get ahead of current player decisions. As of now, I believe we are losing at least 3 at the end of the 23-24 season, with one uncertainty--Lohner is listed as a Senior, if he is out eligibility after this year, that would mean we lose four. This doesn't include what Freshman who will go to the draft, and of course any leaving via portal.
So, at any rate, I don't think we are out of scholarships for 2024, but we will be losing Jonathan, Jalen, and quite likely Yves. 3-4 front court players going out, with only one commit coming in. We will clearly need more frontline help via the Freshman class or portal.

I agree we definately will have more than enough room for both VJ and Tre, they both could be excellent fits, it would be amazing to have both. Kobe will be gone so could see Tre / VJ / Asemota at SG / SF / small ball 4. Wright and Miro rotating at both PG / SG. Love, Nunn, Grimes, Josh O rounding out the rotation unless they portal out and then we replace them. Would need another big to pair with Josh O (I think Missi be one-and-done with kobe) but otherwise we are set.
