Sorry, tried to enlarge and just post the boxscore for anyone who doesn't have Twitter, but failed.

Ja'Kobe's shooting was apparently pretty impressive.

Weird box score. We led in most important categories but they shot the 3 ball much better and converted TOs to points better. Assuming 3 point shooting will get better, we'll take that kind of box score and feel great most nights.

8-11 from the floor, 6-9 (nice) from 3, 22 points in his "first" college outing is something, even if just a scrimmage.

It's interesting Bridges only put up two shots and Langston chucked up 12. Not sure what to make of that.

Love the rebounding margin and FT shooting percentage from that scrimmage.

Don't like the turnovers and opponent's FG% against our D.

Scrimmages against another good team like this allow Drew and staff to identify some areas that may need tuning.

When these things are close they don't seem to tell you much about the two teams. The whole point of the closed door games is both coaches are trying out different lineups throughout the game to see what gels and what doesn't.

Now if someone gets their doors blown off... that's way more interesting.

Ray J assist to JaKobe going to be a common call this season I think.

Also, is Drew friendly with Buzz Williams? I guess he must be to put this together

Stand out to me that all 11 guys played nearly 10 min or more....

Have they scheduled the parade in College Station?

I think they put one up this week, using Aggy logic. They just beat the 2021 National Champion, so that therefore makes them a current national champion.

I think Drew is friendly with almost everyone, especially other coaches.

Looks like RayJ Dennis struggled. I wonder how much that had to do with defense, versus nerves, versus the jump up in competition level. He played well against P6 competition at Toledo, for what it's worth.

Miro Little had the worst +/- on the team in his 12 minutes, and I assume he spelled RayJ. Can't draw definitive conclusions from a scrimmage there's no footage from, but it seems like we need to tighten up at PG.

Don't try to draw any conclusions other than that we were competitive with a ranked team and based on the minutes distribution played to scrimmage and not to win.

Scrimmages are for working on things you need to work on. Seeing things you need to see. Not winning.

This... look at how the minutes were distributed (even vs. Aggie's minutes for their team).

Wouldn't put too much on this. Not a bad result as A&M has a very veteran team. We should be better in a few months. The D numbers aren't great though. They shouldn't be shooting that well even in a scrimmage but again wouldn't be concerned. A lot of trial and error in these things.

I think A&M might end up being better than Texas or Houston anyway so this is good in state comp to play out scenarios with.

No doubt Drew & our coaches learned much from the scrimmage that they will use to prepare the team for real games in a few weeks.

Texas A&M is all over the place on the computer polls.

24 on www.kenpom.com (Baylor is 7)
12 on www.parsedsports.com (Baylor is 22)

Tough to know where we stand or where they stand this early. Good test though.

While the players might have cared about the final score, Drew definitely using this time to look at the lineup / match-ups, etc. I've already had 6 Aggie friends (use that word loosely) send me the damn scorecard - each one received a " hopefully you will have room to hang the Basketball Banner next to all the Football banners'...

Little's performance is cause for a lot of concern. He needs to be an impact player this year...

Aggies have no room to brag vs any Big 12 team, especially Baylor or Kansas. In a real game we probably would win handily and despite two disappointing seasons, our postseason record the past decade far surpasses them.

You could have said something about hanging the banner next to our MBB national championship banner. We have one of those while the Aggies certainly don't.

On a more serious note they look like they will have a good team this year.

Has anyone seen anything from our secret scrimmage with Gonzaga in Phoenix yesterday?

What's secret about a secret scrimmage?
Posting scores and stats does not appear very secret

My guess it was secret until it was over. After the fact, it's more useful for both teams to put the info out there.

Numbers - when this first started, the NCAA's defnition of secret scrimmages required that if you were playing another D1 school, it had to be closed to the public with no fans or media and the schools were not supposed to publicize any results. That definition has branched out over the years as the NCAA starting allowing the scrimmages to be essentially an exhibition in front of fans and be televised as long as proceeds go to charity. That's essentially what happened in yesterday's Arkansas vs. Purdue game, which was televised on the SEC Network. Both games above - Tech vs. Aggies and Illinois vs. KU - also had fans.

Meanwhile, our scrimmage against Gonzaga (which allegedly occurred Saturday in Phoenix according to several Gonzaga fan sites and a Zags beatwriter from Spokane) was supposed to be a completely closed scrimmage, meaning nothing should have been released by either side, although sometimes reports at a high level often find their way back to fan sites through sources. Mark Few has always been very tight with info and does not like anything released. Drew and staff tend to tipoff media guys like Jon Rothstein, Matt Norlander, Jeff Borzello and Jeff Goodman to some of our secret scrimmages over the years, but I doubt anything will be said about this scrimmage due to the mutual respect of Few and Drew.

The thing to remember with scrimmages is that the coaches may agree to several things that wouldn't be permissible in a regular game, such as allowing 6 fouls or both coaches may have agreed to help the other be doing something benefical for the practice of the other team such as spend two minutes of the action in a 1-3-1 zone or other offensive or defensive set. Or, as you might suppose, either coach may trying lineups or matchups they otherwise wouldn't have tried if it had been an actual regular season game. So, you have to take final results with a grain of salt.

Thanks for the explanation. I was wondering as I seem to remember we played a secret scrimmage the year before the Championship where the whispering came out how we blew the doors off a top-level opponent, but no score or stats could be mentioned. If we had won by 30 last week, I still think Aggie would have regarded it a state secret and threatened prosecution to anyone divulging the score.
