Good snag!

No RayJ. Interesting.

Rebounding advantage again! I have a feeling I'm gonna have a mancrush on Ja'Kobe this year. He seems to be everything I thought Key (in college) was gonna be. Guess I should wait for some real games though.

Yikes -- the Assist/TO is frightning with Little struggling again. Heavy turnovers in both scrimmages and high FG% allowed on defense both scrimmages.

I keep wanting to believe everyone that we're okay at PG beyond Dennis, but I'm starting to wonder.
Have no idea what all they worked on, so I'm sure some of the stats could be misleading. But there are definitely some things I'm sure Drew and staff have them working on in practice now and getting ready for Auburn.

Dennis hurt already ?

Dane outlined the things that jumped out to me, along with a ton of free throws and Gonzaga shooting 50%.

Refs wont be calling many charges at all this year, so defenses have to be ready to adjust.

This is a solid point. I forgot all about the rule change for legal guarding position this year.

Check out Fraschilla's Twitter feed. He has done a great job zeroing in on it the last few days.

On a funny note -- the gawky Gregg kid that got into foul trouble in less than 10 minutes last year in SD against us, picked up 7 fouls in roughly 16 or so minutes in the scrimmage??????? He's like a human hackfest.

Only a scrimmage but getting a little concerned about the D fg%s. Will be watching very closely as it is hopefully not a defensive coaching issue.

Tang was the D enforcer so there are still Qs and the no middle is a little stale. Would like more standard help man with wrinkles.

Hopefully Dennis is healthy

Another thought just struck me. I assume Ja'Kobe is still wearing a mask? If so, it doesn't appear to be impacting shooting vision too much as he has shot it well in both scrimmages. That is a good sign.

Let ourselves get in a hole early again, though. Just a scrommage, but like to see is strong out of the gate like '21.

No conclusions whatsoever can be gleaned from a box score from a controlled scrimmage in October. My only concern looking at this box score is the absence of Dennis. If he's out due to injury, hopefully it's nothing serious!

Obviously we can't tell what unit gets scored on, but it seems to be a concerning trend we are not defending well. Hopefully those numbers are more a function of a bad lineup we won't have to use in real play.

Looks like we were up by 2 at the half. Gonzaga was 6-15 from the foul line in first. Hit 11-12 in second.

I think we should tap the breaks on 2021 comparisons at this point. Lot of talent, but most of it has never played together. I would not be surprised if we struggle a bit against the top competition early on. More concerned with how this team looks in late January.

We should never make comparisons to the 21 team ever. That was literally a generational team. Yet we have posters for the last 3 years now claiming the next squad will be better.
Green goggles need taken off. This may very well end up being a really good team by March. It'll never compare to the 21 team

No doubt about the effort from him, but there is only so much a bum knee will allow you on defense.
For us to compete against top level, we are going to need Yves and Josh to progress quickly.
Jonathan was our best 3pt shooter(%wise) on a team with George, Cryer and Flagler. We need what he can give us from 3 and, more importantly, his leadership with the Freshman.

i mean i don't think of EJ as an offensive weapon. and if he's limited/useless on defense then it doesn't feel like he should be starting/playing for a top 5 team in the nation. love him as a person and how far he's come and his story but if there are other viable options....sorry big man.

It's very likely that we will never again have a team like 2021. We might have great teams & may even have another shot at a natty but those teams will be significantly different.

I do not say Jonathan can't defend--far from it. But I am guessing there are days when his knee is barking at him, just as there will be days when he reminds us of his old self.

My point about his offense... we are only looking at stats from 2 secret scrimmages, so not much to go on, i agree. Looking at the stats, though, if you take Ja'kobe's numbers out, we are not a good 3pt shooting team...at all. We need a second or third option outside.

My only comment is is Dennis short-term out or long-term out?

My only other comment was the 2022 Team was Great before the injuries hit.

If Dennis is healthy and if Love ever finds his groove we will have more than our fair share of perimeter shooters. I realize both of those might be big "ifs" but the pieces are in place. We will have 4 or 5 shooters spacing the floor at all times since Bridges will be starting at the stretch 4 and EJ can make shots at a good clip.

I saw someone say RayJ just had a bad bruise and would've played if it were a regular season game. He will be good to go vs auburn if that's the case.
