Takes a tiny little focus off his football debacle and the fire under his seat for some terrible decisions

It's shame that you don't realize Mack is an incredible AD. Look at his awards. Not to mention he could have left Baylor multiple times for higher prestige jobs. However, President Livingstone knows it. I can assure you he is not on the hot seat!

Why is he so good? Can't point to any program that has improved as a result of his leadership. If he left tomorrow, nobody would miss him.

You are an idiot. He got the extension because of the B12 championship. You don't part ways after success like that. It sucks CDA hasn't been able to come close to those results, but no one could have predicted the failures of this season and last before the extension was made. It appeared to be a smart decision at the time.BluesBear said:What have you been smoking.....Name the higher prestige jobs he could have left for???Mhixson said:

He has ZERO to do with the success of Baylor Basketball (Men) and EVERYTHING to do with the failure of the football program. He caught lightning in a bottle with Rhule.....needed to recognize that Dave is not a fit and part ways....but No - we extend the guy....
And Dave should be selling Life Insurance with Dykes as well. I would not have extended Dave after the Big12 Championship win - his name might have been in the mix for those jobs but those schools were not hiring him.Stefano DiMera said:
Do you believe what you just wrote. Realize he's not a fit after a Big 12 championship and part ways?!
Extension is what every school would have done. And if he had gone to USC or Notre Dame you'd be screaming.
So TCU should have parted ways with Dykes after being in national championship last year?
I know Mack isn't perfect but damn he not a fortune teller. Neither is Donati at TCU but as I've said a million times I think Dykes will be selling life insurance soon.
You as well. Knee-Jerk reaction on providing an extension that provides little out for Baylor for a 1-time wonder. When the recruits didn't come in as evidence from the Big12 win then Mack should have paused for a second and reevaluated the notion of an extension, etc. But hey, let's throw money out there and hope it sticks for an unproven commodity.contrario said:You are an idiot. You would be one of the only AD's that fired a coach (that didn't break any rules) after a conference championship. Just 2 years after you hired the coach by the way. Good luck ever getting a decent hire to look at the school you are employed by.BluesBear said:You as well. This is total revisionist history to think that it was a dumb move to extend Aranda immediately following the greatest football season in Baylor history. Sure, Aranda has not worked out great since then, but to think that it was a major f*** up of Mack's to extend Aranda's contract after that season is the definition of hindsight is 20/20.BluesBear said:What have you been smoking.....Name the higher prestige jobs he could have left for???Mhixson said:

How long jerruh stick w Barry after that
Just because it's your opinion doesn't mean it can't be wrong. You absolutely would have extended Aranda after that Big 12 championship season. Don't kid yourself.BluesBear said:And Dave should be selling Life Insurance with Dykes as well. Zero lift from Big12 Championship in terms for recruiting and on-the-field performance the past 2 years. But this isn't about Football, it is about the original statement about Mack feeling relieved.
You have your opinion and I have mine. Mack needs to go and Dave with him.
