Is he just not that good relative to current talent?

Is he hurt? I mean, his injury was severe he's likely never to play at the same level again.

Those closer to the team can probably fill in the details.

It's awful, but apparently he's embracing his role - and that shows great character

I realize how my post might have seemed.

I said "who is JTT" because some posters keep calling him JTT over and over and over again. It almost feels like on purpose. He is good being called Jon or EJ. For years he has said he doesn't like being called JTT for cultural reasons and that has been made clear on these boards. But the disrespect of his name continues. If anyone deserves our full reverence and respect it's EJ for all he's sacrificed for our program. OK end of rant

Thought I had read something about back spasms/tightness less than a week ago. Was that just conjecture?

Back spasms are no joke and the slightest thing can set it off.

No. Drew said he was healthy and that he is transitioning to player-coach duties.

He might not be considered "hurt", but is limited since his injury.

He is the leader of the team. Coach Drew is referring to him as "player coach".

Question was whether he was injured "hurt" Answer is no unless Drew's lying. He's clearly not his old self. Doesn't mean he's not 100% just means his new 100% clearly isn't what his old 100% was

We have all seen it. He's not the same player he was prior to the injury. I never thought of it but it might be painful for him to keep grinding like a D1, P5 bball player. If his ceiling for improvement isn't getting any higher then this makes sense. He's still there in case of emergencies but can help in other ways in the meantime. I feel sorry for him. It sounds like they are trying to make the most out of an unfortunate situation.

Yes I do.

Would you like me to ship it to you? Or I will be happy to buy next time you are in town for an athletic contest.

Actually let's hold off until I'm in Waco next. Planning on coming down for the AF game next fall

Unfortunately, his injury was a career-ender in terms of high level collegiate basketball.

Well his name is Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua. JTT are his initials. Don't know why he would be offended by that and I don't recall every seeing or hearing that.

I did not realize that was occurring until this allusion!

How about a simple explanation ? Drew already knows what EJ is capable of doing. These are non conference games and the younger players need time on the court. EJ is an insurance policy this year, and will be ready when called upon.

Right, but he has said multiple times he doesn't like being called JTT, and Fran Fraschilla has said on broadcasts multiple times over the last three years that Jon considers it a minimization of his family name to reduce it to two letters, and is therefore disrespectful to him and his family.

We can continue to argue semantics on this board, or we can respect the man's wishes. I don't know why some people insist on dying on this hill.

I asked a genuine question with no disrespect implied to Jon. I will call anyone I respect what they want. JTT is disrespectful but EJ is cool - seems very odd and I don't recall him or Fran saying that but I will take your word for it. I have nothing but respect for the man.

In an interview a year or two ago he said where he is from, it is disrespectful not to use a person's family name.

JP, I made my post prior to me reading the above post.

No offense intended (similar to our football team)

If Jon has limited minutes to give this year, why waste them on cupcakes like John Brown, Gardner Webb or UMKC, Northwestern St and Mississippi Valley St?
