Sounds like it. That's a real kick in the ass to a town that supported them when they were the most laughable franchise in pro sports. Must have burned through the money he got from the Radio.com scam

Report: Mavericks owner Mark Cuban selling majority stake to billionaire Miriam Adelson, will retain control of team (yahoo.com)

ESPN reporting they would like TX to legalize gambling and build a resort hotel/casino/arena in the Dallas area. I doubt they would move the team.

Pretty sure this is 100% not true.

Dallas DID NOT support the Mavericks in the 1990's.....and in all honesty the Mavs didn't deserve it.
The previous owner (Ross Perot Jr) didn't give a rats ass about winning or putting a good product on the court.

The OP is full of it. The Mavericks will not be moving to Las Vegas.

Why are you just making sh*t up? There is no way the team would be moved to Vegas. Dallas supports the Mavs as good or better than any other NBA franchise.

But this really is all moot. Dallas and NBA insiders have confirmed that this sale/purchase was done with an eye toward building a casino district in conjunction with a new arena for the Mavs (in Dallas) once Texas legalizes gambling.

I MAY have been stirring the pot a little ... but it also wouldn't surprise me if this is the beginning of courtship for a new arena/casino and Mavs move to LV when it can't/won't be built.

It's cute that you think support of the team has anything to do with whether the NBA would allow a move. It's about money. The move fee to LV plus expansion fee when they give Dallas a new expansion team a few years later (or another move fee when Pacers or Wizards move to Dallas) would look pretty nice to the owners. They don't care about the fans ... especially in a different city.

Don Carter owned the team during their worst years in early/mid 90s when Mavs were setting loss records. He was not a good owner at the end, but he was a fan and he cared. I don't think anyone would argue with that. And fans showed for their games in that time. Not a packed house at Reunion but they had their fans and Mavs mostly were middle of the pack in attendance and never at the bottom.

The rumor I've heard is that Cuban want to put a new arena (and possible resort casino Hotel ) in the Dallas Design District.

I'm guessing it would be put where the current Mavs HQ is...with the aging business park next door being torn down for the hotel portion.
