It'll be interesting to see how much they drop UConn. I could see a scenario where they are still ahead of us. I hope not.

My guess is #5 on Monday.

No way to get to 3…Will be 4 to 6 and should be 4….It will be a great ranking for the Big XII with the probable #1 coming to the conference next year.

Even if we don't go up as far as we would like (very possible), we will move up and if we can win the next few games, especially Duke on December 20, then we will continue rising. If more of the teams above us lose games, we could conceivably be in the top 3 before conference play begins. Personally, I would like to see a winning streak get to the upper teens or even 20s. But that is very unlikely considering the tough Big 12 games coming up and the very difficult road games yet to be played.

I think it's safe to say this year is not like 2021 where Gonzaga was ranked no. 1 till the brutal end. No team is showing the level of dominance Baylor and Gonzaga showed that year. I would expect pretty much a different no. 1 every week for the next couple of months.

Good pub for the Big 12, we should get 3 in the top 5 maybe 6 in next poll.

Under this scenario:
1. UConn doesn't drop, which wouldn't bother me, or
2. Purdue drops to four, which would bother me a bit, or
3. Someone jumps us

Purdues loss was on the road to a soon to be ranked NW squad. We're for sure jumping Duke, Miami, Marquette. Perhaps we could jump either. Just not sure it happens

I agree with that and can't see Purdue falling more than 4 -5 slots in the poll.

The other thing I'm sure they'll consider is Purdue has beaten 3 ranked teams. We've beaten 0

Agreed: this year is not like 2021. I think maybe it's more like 2020 with different teams at #1 until one loses. We got there late & remained for 5 weeks until Kansas came to Waco (we won in Lawrence in January). We had a 23 game winning streak, a Big 12 record and would have been a #1 seed if March Madness had not been cancelled. Also, we had lots of talent but less experience than the natty team (since it was almost the exact same group).

I think our current winning streak could last awhile although I doubt it will get to 23. If it does, we will have swept Kansas. I believe that will happen some day. Doubtful it will happen in 2024.

Such comparisons have their limits: we have no one like Mark Vital, no defender likely to win national PoY like Davion Mitchell, etc. Instead we have 1-2 "one and dones" in Walter & Missi.

Houston and of course Kansas will jump UConn. I don't think we will. AP voting panel is heavily tilted toward Eastern seaboard writers who will all say (and correctly so), it was:

a) a close loss
b) on the road
c) at Phog Allen

I say it will be:

1. Arizona
2. KU or UH
3. UH or KU
4. Purdue
5. UConn
6. Baylor
7. Marquette

I think you nailed it.

The big move comes over the next two weeks after wins over Seaton Hall, MSt and Duke. That's when the B12 has a chance to be 1,2,3

crazy even a chance top 4 are all big 12 teams

Yup. We don't play as many creampuffs as some schools do but it just so happened that we played our two biggest creampuffs the week Purdue and UConn lost. If we had played and beaten Michigan St or Duke this week, we may have jumped either UConn and/or Purdue. But since we beat 2 creampuffs, we won't get rewarded until the weeks after we play and beat Michigan St and Duke. Win those, along with Seton Hall, and we'll be elevated to 1 of those Top 4 slots.

Should be top five today correct?

Yes but that does not mean it will happen. If we finish 2023 & others lose, we could be #1 on January 1. If WBB keeps winning, they could be there as well. I don't really expect it.

Either way it's great seeing both of our teams back in the top ten

If we finish out 2023 unbeaten we should jump everyone but an unbeaten Arizona.

Sure is a whole lot of XII and soon to be XII hovering around the top.

Love It.
