I'm ok with that. Our two good wins took major hits this week.

I haven't checked but did Auburn and Florida both lose?

Yup. I like hanging low and staying almost out of sight. Let Kansas and Houston have all the spotlight, pressure, and target on their backs. We'll be good come March - when it matters.

Auburn is going to be really up and down, super athletic, but also prone to some bad decision making by their guards. We saw that during our game. Curious to see how they do in league play. Kentucky also had a bad loss, Tennessee is ok, not sure who is going to be the team in the SEC this year.

Hell, will Duke even still be ranked when we play them on the 20th?

I can definitely see the SEC champ having 6 or 7 conference losses. Kind of like the B12 last year.

SEC is full of teams that can beat anybody on any given night, or lay an egg on any given night. A&M maybe the most consistent?

Our MSG game with them is losing the clout I had hoped for.

Auburn and Florida were nice wins but overblown a bit as some early season victories are for a lot of teams. Both will finish in the middle of the SEC (somewhere in the 6-8 range) each with a very well defined weakness. Neither is as good as Aggie, UK, Bama, TN or Arkansas.

I'm with you, Married. I like hanging out just slightly below KU and UH in the polls. Let them absorb the pressure while we just win in whatever manner it takes. Rankings used to matter to me because I felt like it was the way Drew got our name (and his) recognized. But, he's on the mountain top now. Every recruit knows who he is and who we are, so whether we're ranked #1 or #10 is fairly meaningless.

I think Fran gets too many folks hyped when he pitches each team as underrated and a "top 3" team in the Sec. I think both have very high one game ceilings which is i prefer. Meaning they can rise up and beat anyone but they aren't going to cruise to a ton of victories with no issues. Would rather play that than a middling teams that don't have the upside.

Both Mich St and Duke no matter the rankings are one of about 20 teams that can rise up and beat anybody in a given game. Will be tests even with their losses.

Yep. Both of those teams have holes so this will play out over time. KU lacks depth and shooting at times. UH lacks top end premier talent and size. They just don't pop if that makes sense.

BU is still wobbly on D but as we said all offseason has among the highest upsides of any team in the country. The talent pops just need continued cohesion and consistency.

Agree Quinton. I love Fran pitching the Big 12 the way broadcasters from other conferences pitch their teams. He's gotta be the Big 12's best PR guy. But it's also easy to get caught up in his hyperbole from time to time if you don't take a step back and realize what and why he's saying some of the things he says. He even admitted that on a podcast I was listening to over the Summer. I love Fran though. He knows the ins and outs of every team in the Big 12 better than any other analysts I hear covering their conferences.

He's a new yorker and he talks like it. He has about 10 teams as top 3 in the Sec at this point. Love to hear it to just have to take it for what it is.

I still want to go as well, but plane tickets are crazy from the PNW. Would have been awesome if it was a top 5 matchup, my tickets to the game would be that much more valuable.

Rankings in December don't matter. They do in February.

These Baylor problems should work r themselves out by February & March, right?

I have noticed that Fran tends to prop up both teams when he's annoy bing a game. This includes some exaggeration but he's playing to the fans who are watching. That won't stop him from offering honest criticism. In the natty year he called out Mark Vital for slacking off a bit (maybe Drew or someone suggested he do that?). Mark ribbed him about it but also got better later in the season. He also called out Texas for being a "country club" school. I don't know if anyone there took it to heart but Sark has them in the playoffs.
