Barclays Center construction costs were $845 million excluding land and some other non-construction related costs: $524 million for the actual construction of the arena; $70 million for the Transit Connection; $19 million for site work around the arena; $109 million for architecture and engineering; $45 million for development management (paid to Forest City Ratner), $2 million for legal fees. (Of note, the architecture and engineering cost for Barclays is more than half of what we paid for our entire arena)Method Man said:That is somewhat true, but kind of misleading.Wicked_Wombat said:
To the poster that expected a more "pro-arena" experience...you're comparing apple and oranges:
Brooklyn Nets "pro arena" = $1 bil
Foster Fieldhouse = $214
What really makes the value of the Barclay's Center $1 Billion is the value of the land in Brooklyn, NY vs Waco, TX.
Put the Foster Pavilion in NYC and the price tag is probably somewhere between $500-$750 Million.
The point is, there is a big difference between a $214 million arena and a $800 million+ arena as far as amenities and overall experience go. We have just about what I would expect with the price tag in the current construction market.
