Drew didn't miss any free throws

Or get two "And 1" fouls, one after a 3.

The two late fouls in regulation were deadly

And yet, we still had a chance to win.

When players cannot make shots, you usually lose. That is what happened. They laid an egg. I hope they get better.

My fear is teams seem to be running at us when we shoot 3s and we are missing them. I hope this changes. Otherwise, that's the blueprint and we bow out early.

Give Tang his due, but remember this is also his 2x per year championship game. This is the game he wants to win more than any other, including Kansas. Not saying Drew doesn't, but its much different being the protege than the master.
umm, i don't believe that's the case at all. he loves scott drew. it's like playing his brother. he loathes ku. it's a completely different level of competition when state plays the faux birds.

I'm sure the game means a lot to Tang, but as head coach at KSU, he had better realize that beating Kansas is the number one objective and there is nothing close to that, if he wants to finish his career there.

I thought this team was turning a corner then they play like this and Drew just stood there and let them. Come out after halftime and can't score for 5 minutes. Bad time to half their once a game 5 minute drought with Drew NOT doing a thing. No time out, no subs, just stands there and watches.
Late in the game they were 2 for 15 in three pointers. This team is so aggravating to watch.

I'm as skeptical as they come, but I did not see Drew get out coached last night. I did see players who probably should have their minutes reduced until they learn how to make a free throw. And I have a feeling Drew will address the matter, since he has won a national championship and knows what he is doing.

then stop watching. If you were doing something other than putting a former coach up against a current one, you would notice that KSU plays a ton of close and OT games at home--and manages to win them. I bet we get them next time. Big 12 is a crushingly competitive place: for those who might be traumatized with going 12-6 in conference, you may need to stay away to protect your sensitivities.

the team choked, the coaches didn't.

While it's okay to say we wholly underperformed against an inferior opponent, I don't think it's fair to say the loss falls solely on the coaching staff.

Coach drew Time for team meeting….. question to ask his team … Did you come here expecting your teammate to win for you ???
Looks like everyone who played for Baylor last night has that mentality… waiting for the other guy to explode on offense & play shutdown defensively.. commonly used in basketball " it's not my fault "

I'm not even sure they (ksu) played any harder than we did. We just made so many boneheaded low IQ mistakes at the end of regulation and OT.

Tang's team did everything they could to hand Baylor the win. We just refused to accept their generosity.

The thing I'm struggling with is, "Who is our leader"? We're 17 games into the season and I should be able to answer that question without even hesitating. I feel like it's the same issue we had last year. And I'm not referring to coaching staff. I'm talking about who, on this team, is the guy who gets in everyone else's grill on the court if they are not living up to expectations. Or, get's in their grill to motivate them. Who is the Mark Vital of this team?
Can someone else help me see what I'm not seeing, please?

the leader is sitting on the bench with a support in his shoe. He gets a couple minutes every two-three games. He goes by Everyday Jon

You're right. He has not been the same since his injury. With an injury like that, it's also probably not reasonable to think he could ever reach the level he was before.

Nonsensical talk about Jon. He plays the same position as Yves and Josh and it's obvious they have to play. He is the leader, but not the floor general.

On another note our 2021 National Championship Team didn't have a single leader. They simply had multiple Alpha dudes. No one this year is as good as them, including us. Which is why we are still in it.
BigGameBaylorBear

One could argue the floor generals were Butler and Mitchell but Vital and Teague were also alphas in my opinion. I think the key to that team was straight chemistry and experience, it's hard to get that with the portal nowadays
DanaDane
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Interesting. Both Butler and Mitchell told me Vital was the man.

Vital was the ultimately glue guy & legitimate defensive PoY candidate in the natty season. And he was great in those roles every year he played for Baylor. We may never have another player like that.
BigGameBaylorBear
How long do you want to ignore this user?
That makes sense. Wasn't Vital like the longest tenured Baylor player at the time?

Nah. You guys were the better team, straight up, last season.
