Quit using 2021 as your standard for good ball

Call me a sunshine pumper but let's be real, the 2021 team was one of the best not only at Baylor but in the history of the sport. You are going to be miserable if you keep comparing every performance to them

With that being said, Kstate was a poor performance, UT wasnt bad and some of our best shooting in conference play so far. That's a fact

Best shooting for a half….completely folded in the last 8 minutes of the game offensively outside of Barnes' 3….a 2nd half like that just doesn't cut it.

Stop using good ball as an example of good ball?

I don't expect every year to be that good, but they should be the standard. Anything else is aiming too low.

We didn't fold. We stopped making shots. That happens sometimes. We still competed and guys continued to attack, which allowed us to stay in the game despite a horrific stretch from the field. We just didn't execute well enough to beat a solid Texas team that played well at home.

I'm frustrated, but not necessarily discouraged. This is still a good team. It's just not a great one. Fortunately, there are no great ones in college basketball this year.

We'll see how we respond to two tough road losses when TCU comes to town.

No, quit using one of the greatest teams to win the natty as an example for good ball. Thought I got that point across pretty clearly

This team might just not reach their top end. We'll see.

Goal now should be to go undefeated at home and compete well on the road. That is realistic and something tangible. Let the chips fall if they do the.

It's the difference between good ball and exceptionally great ball.

It's an insult to the 2021 team to say that they were merely "good". Gonzaga was a great team and our guys made them look like JV (I think some pundit actually said that). Every team in the Final Four, like most years, was great. It's probably fair to say that every team in the Sweet 16 was very good. Good teams make it to the NCAA tournament tournament. Many good teams have to settle for the NIT. Great teams make it to the second and third weekend.

I had this same internal "talk" with myself about a week ago. That year was so otherworldly the way we dominated and ran through the conference like a buzzsaw save a few Covid tinged games.

That was not a normal year. I'm trying to reprogram by thinking/expectations that this team this year can be good....but will still lose quite a few conference games.

We may not be a true Top 10 team...although outside of maybe 3 teams I'm not sure exactly who the Top 10 are anyway. We are going to lose probably 6 to 8 more games....but that doesn't mean we suck.

It just means we are a good...not great....team playing in the best conference in the country.

Haha, ya 2021 was my first year as a student and obviously a fan of Baylor basketball, I had extremely high standards for awhile

But #3 Kansas just lost to an unranked WVU and #19 TCU lost at home to #24 Iowa St. I think a lot of fans need to step back and take a deep breath

Can anyone imagine what that 2021 team might have done without covid interruptions? It's not outside the realm of possibility that they would have ended the season undefeated with a 40-0 record (or close to it) & a Big 12 tournament championship, just like the 2012 WBB team. Of course, this is just idle speculation but it does provide some perspective when comparing the current team.

Drew put together the best team in the one and done era…8 guys who could play and all in their third, fourth, and fifth year of college basketball. It was a throwback to yesteryear teams.

The game since 2021 has changed with the transfer portal and NIL…It is an unrealistic expectation that he can repeat what no one else has even done. The stars aligned for that team. The standard should be repeating a National Championship.

And the good news is this team is in position to make a run. Just as good of a position as everyone else with a realistic chance.
