I don't know if he was trying to call timeout or not, but after Bridges hit that clutch 3 to tie it we might as well have just walked off the court for the last 5 seconds.

In life, we all wish we could have done something different in hindsight. Sports is not unique. Unfortunately we don't get do-overs. And in games like this a decision must be made in fractions of seconds. No time to really think about it as it is flying past your eyes.

Hilarious post but this UCF dude. Rodney Terry needs a redo on the entire post-UCF loss.

That defensive play looks even more horrific close up. Just disastrous.

You can't let a guy get all the way to the rim, obviously, but that was a hell of a finish. For a guy who was beaten, Love gave a pretty decent contest.

At some point, we've got to fix our transition defense. It's ridiculous how often our guys don't know what their assignment is or just flat do the wrong thing.

Keeping my fingers crossed! I feel like we've gotten much better with on ball D since the conference began. I'm hoping for some kind of improvement with the transition D as the season progresses.

For all you old timers like me watching that I had deja vu of former BYU great/BlueJays 3rd baseman/Celtic agitator Danny Ainge going coast to coast against UCLA at the buzzer in NCAA tournament.

Stefano -- I think you may be confusing two games. My wife's uncle played for Notre Dame in the early 80s (top 10 ranked in those days according to him) and I think that is who Ainge drove the length of the court against in the NCAAs because he has always hated Ainge. In the 1990s when I was a little kid Tyus Edney of UCLA drove the length of the court against Missouri in the NCAAs.

I thought of the women's game in the S16 against Louisville in the mug-fest game when Griner was on the team. We had been beaten up (literally) the whole game. We made a massive comeback in the fourth quarter. Sims had just scored with just seconds left in the game to give us a one-point lead. Then we let Schimmel go coast to coast with no resistance (leaving most of our defenders in her wake) until Griner fouled her on the layup attempt. We lost on the free throws.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who watched the finish, and thought that a timeout should have been called immediately after the made 3.

There was way too much time left for Texas to push the ball up the court afterwards, and a timeout to settle everyone down and put your best defensive set in place would have been preferred there (especially when you consider the overall lack of experience this group has playing together).

If you call the timeout, and the opposing team burns you afterwards, it most likely turns into a 'player execution' problem, instead of 'the coach didn't put his team in the best position to win' problem.

And that's not a hindsight thought.

As for the most memorable coast-to-coast moments, I think last Saturday's finish brought back memories of the 1995 NCAA Tournament, when Tyus Edney went the length of the floor to knock off Missouri.

Had his shot not gone down, UCLA would have been knocked out of the tournament in the 2nd Round.

Instead, they went on to win the whole thing (denying Arkansas the chance for a repeat in the Finals).
