Want BYU to win. And kind of want OU, but don't care all that much. Whatever helps our chances at conference title.

Doesn't OU losing help us since they have same record as us and even with the win Texas is behind us?

Frogs win in Stillwater.

For those who like to criticize a certain AD for contract extensions to Rhule and Aranda...Mike Boynton is in the middle of 7 year deal signed in 2021. Buyout is 8 million..drops to 6.8 mill April 1.

Ouch.

Different AD, but they did the same thing with Travis Ford. I think they've only had 1 NCAA win in the last 10-12 years

Felt bad for BYU. They got home cooked on their own home floor.

Said a month ago I'm not understanding how Boynton still has a job. The dude seems like a great guy. But he's a bad coach. Aside from the Cunningham season his tenure has been a giant failure imo

Sounds like a certain football coach in Waco

He's still saddled with NCAA probation till 2025 and scholarship reductions..I think 3 scholarships..

It wouldn't surprise me if he came back next year because of that and the buyout..

The foul call on Knell at the end was tough. It was pretty clear the Houston player was holding him as they fell, but just don't have a good enough camera angle to reverse the call.

That's true I didn't even think about the probation issues he was facing. I like the guy. He's one of favorite coaches in the B12. He's a solid recruiter too. Just not sure he's a good coach.

They've been getting worked by the refs in conference. Not saying that it's completely unfair they just don't know how to sell calls.

I watched a small portion and they were getting grabbed and bumped consistently. Don't know if their coach is working the officials but they've consistently been behind in fouls with critical guys in foul trouble.

That said they jack a ton of 3s and missed a decent amount of open looks. They literally missed a wide open 3 that probably wins the game. They need to play off the line a little more. They looked decent when they went inside but would consistently jack 3s to destroy momentum.

Was a strange game

houston reminds me a lot of coach huggins best wvu teams with their aggressive defense, big-thick-dudes, and control of play. plus, coach sampson patrols the courtside in the same fashion as huggs but without the stool.

wonder if huggins will coach again? some random, private school like depaul might bite.

For sure, BYU had a hand in their own demise.

UH is clearly a "foul constantly and they can't call everything" team. That won't work against a blueblood in the tourney. Yes, they will call 25+ fouls on you against UNC.

Beard ran a version of this on Tech's come up as well. It works at the college level because over time refs do not want to call 15 fouls a half on one team. Other teams start to capitulate and settle for jumpers instead of taking a pounding over and over.

They have "cleaned" it up a tad in the few games I've watched, but you're right. It doesn't work against teams that get calls and it doesn't work against high level guards with front court toughness.

I think he's generally a very good defensive coach (this year's team is struggling more than normal on that end because of youth and lack of depth), but his offenses are pretty brutal to watch a lot of the time.

They have a couple of freshman on this year's team that I think are going to be really good players. But in the transfer portal era, they're as likely not to flourish on someone else's roster.

I like Boynton a lot, too, and I'd like to see him succeed. But he's got an uphill climb. The second he gets fired, I want Scott Drew to offer him a job and make him turn us down. His defense with Drew's offense would make us very hard to beat.

When BYU played us, I felt like they had a similar strategy. Be overly physical and hope they don't get called... but they did get called, and we won.
