It's hard to win in the big 12 on the road.

Big win for the good guys.

As angry as I was in the first half, I was proud of the way the guys responded after halftime. They upped their intensity and played like a team that knew what a loss would mean.

Now we've got to find a way to build on this one.

I'm having a hard time thinking of UCF as a "tough" opponent (even after the Briles-fail fiesta bowl), but I guess I should get used to it after tonight.

It's gotten to the point where any time you can beat an opponent on the road on the Big 12, it is a huge win. And it does not matter who the opponent is. They could be 2-14 and if you beat them on the road, that's a big deal.

UCF has beaten both Texas and Kansas. So good win in my opinion.

A .500 record in the Big 12 likely earns you a five or six seed. And every road win either increases your ceiling or buys you a little more margin for error against your toughest opponents at home.

Our schedule is nice in that we have most of our toughest opponents at home. We missed an opportunity to steal one at Kansas State, but escaping Stillwater and Orlando with wins was big. We need to do the same thing at Morgantown here in a couple of weeks.

This could be the win that jump starts our run for the remainder of the season. Now is the time to build momentum for the tournament grind.

Was there to see it! Great win….. yes - second half defense was soooo much more intense - I actually saw our guys close out on shooters! You could see a hand up in the face for the first time all year - even though UCF made some second half 3s they were tough contested shots, unlike the first half

Arena was pretty dang nice - good size along the lines of the smaller field houses - had some quirkiness to the set up as the student section and seat behind one basket were close to the floor and behind the second basket is a large flat area with some kind of beer garden table set up thing - so the seats are way back from the basket

Fans were pretty chill for the most part - ran into several Bears at the game - not a big contingent but we let em know we were there. All in all a fun night.

This is my hope too. I hope this is a confidence builder that unlocks the team to playing at a higher level.

A win on Saturday against ISU will have things suddenly looking much more hopeful. We would be 5-3 and possibly in a tie for third place and one game back in the loss column. TT, KU, and TCU all have home games they should be favored in. If they all win and we beat ISU that would make the top of the conference:

TT 6-2
KU 6-3
UH 6-3
TCU 6-3
BU 5-3
ISU 5-3

Of course....as we've seen anything can happen with all of these teams....but the point is...another win the Saturday and we are right back in the mix near the top just about halfway through conference play.

Had to have this one, because the next four games will be a turning point, either toward a conference title or away from one - three teams ahead of us in the standings and one we're more or less tied with. And we get three at home.

vs. #12 ISU
vs. #15 TTU
@ #8 KU
vs. #23 OU

The # sign stretch of our schedule.

Kansas is so overrated it's not funny. They're a good team, but they're a blown call against TCU away from having four conference losses already -- including losses to UCF and WVU. This is far from a vintage Bill Self squad.

Overrated, yes but they've beat some good teams. The mental memory the players in that program have counts for something. Winning against a bunch of solid but unspectacular teams (big 12) takes small habits over a game. While very thin with roster holes, they have more experience doing it than any other team here.

They are not counted out until they absolutely prove it. Self while flawed in other aspects, is easily the best coach in this conference.

That said, I agree this is their worst team in a long time. Don't know if Self's health issue in the last year contributes as well.

That's fine. But there aren't many other teams in America that could absorb losses to UCF and West Virginia and remain in the top 10.
