Has Kansas ever been an underdog at home?

Some great games today with Baylor capping it all off tonight.

Today is one of the few times I will cheer for the Frogs!

Max Abmas has been amazing to end this Texas-TCU game. He took that thing over to lead the Horns to a big road win.

Abmas has hit more fully guarded, tough shots from 3 this year than anyone I can remember in recent memory.

I initially read your post as "crapping it all off."

My first thought was I hope not.

My second was Oldbear83 got ahold of historian's account.

Abmas is a great player. It was insane that Oral Roberts had both him and Kevin Obanor on the same roster. That's some serious talent at a tiny, little school.

BU can pass TCU in the standings with a win tonight

Double digit win for Texas on the road.

I still don't know what to make of TCU. At times they look like a team that could put it together and go on a roll in the NCAAs, and at other times they look like a team that gets eliminated the first game by North Carolina A&T.
Dixon has a lot of talent on that roster. I was never convinced he had what it took when he was at Pittsburgh and I still question it at TCU. Kinda think he's a good, not great, coach.

Houston's D suddenly doesn't look like much of a lockdown D so far in this game. KU scoring at will.

You can hate Bill Self and Kansas all you want (and most of us do), but if you appreciate the finer points of basketball particularly in terms of fast ball movement passes and cuts to the basket you should appreciate Bill Self teams for that because no one does it better year in and out..

"Good not great"

Doesn't that describe most P6 coaches (except for maybe a few that aren't very good at all)?

Yeah, I haven't been super impressed by this Kanas team this year, but they look really damn good today.

They almost always show up for big games.

Things you don't see every day:

Through almost 10 minutes of the 1st half, KU is shooting:

90% from the field
100% from 3
100% from FT line

All against the #1 defensively efficient team in the country (and by quite a big margin).

That won't continue, obviously, but if Houston doesn't start hitting some shots, they're going to let this one get away from them before Kansas cools off.

This KU team just has nothing beyond the starting 5. And, it was actually just the starting 4 until he moved Furphy into the starting lineup and that kid's confidence (and play) soared. Thing is, though, they never seem to get into foul trouble for whatever reasons. And the games they lost were the ones where they did.

Maybe Kansas doesn't get into foul trouble in conference play because of the officials.

That was a really bad sequence for Shead. Misses a runout layup and fouls a 3-point shooter. Yikes.
DanaDane

Houston looks rattled. Shead does not miss lay ups like that. Looks like Phog Allen is claiming another victim through intimidation so far. Houston has gotta get out of this funk or, like you said, they could get blown out of here.

I don't blame officials. But it does seem awfully "coincidental" that opponents rack up lots of fouls there.

They need to try to get it single digits by halftime. They'll be fine if they can get the deficit down to six or eight by the break.

Kansas is turning the ball over a lot. If they cool down from the field, this could turn into a dogfight in the second half.

Kansas grows goofy white chuckers on trees.

Furphy looks like another good one.
DanaDane

I'm not sure how Jackson started in front of Furphy for the first half of the season but Furphy gives them the Grady Dick dimension they didn't have until he moved into the starting role.
DanaDane

KU's ball movement is just simply eviscerating UH's defense.

I underestimated Furphy's athleticism. That dude's a player.

In Lawrence, I think officials are often a factor. Too many games in which the calls are lopsided & too many of them are questionable.

Other than that, I won't usually blame the officials.

What a ridiculous loss that was.

Come back and make fun of me later, but I think UC is gonna give Tech all they can absorb and may end up beating Tech in Lubbock today.

As I keep telling myself, I can grudgingly accept the Texas loss but I can't accept the K State loss. They're just not that good and we had a 6 point lead with 1:53 to go. That was truly a squandered opportunity.

That was the most frustrated I've been after a Baylor loss since the Yale NCAA loss in 2016.

KU finished the first half shooting 68% from the field, 50% from 3 and 63% from the FT line.
