The worst was the review when they went to monitor to see if Ray J threw the ball out of bounds.

They clearly missed on the initial call the guy hacked his arm making him send it out of bounds.

1. Yes the officiating was execrable

2. No, the league won't do diddly about it, at least in public

3. Privately, the Big 12 will send some kind of apology to Drew. It will have less meaning than a politician's promise, though

4. I believe the Bears are about to become very dangerous. A BS ejection like tonight's can deflate a team, or give them a cause to fight for. These Bears maybe believed they could win without too much work before, and it cost them in the 3 close losses. Now they have reason to believe they have been cheated but prevailed, and they believe in each other. Nunn was amazing at the end, but everyone contributed in the comeback after the refs tried to give the game to Iowa State and I think Baylor is going to be much better the rest of the way this season because of tonight's win.

My thoughts exactly. The insanity of last night just might motivate & unite the team unlike what we have seen before this game. They have the talent to win most if not all the remaining games. Do I think this will lead to another natty? No, that is very unlikely & there is so much parity in this conference & so much uncertainty in March Madness. At least, however, they could use this to propel them forward & make a serious bid for a conference title. They might even win the Big 12 tournament, not as important but still a nice trophy to earn. Most important, it could lead to a deeper run in March than we have had the last 2 years. That is my hope.

That was in Lawrence in 2022 or 2023. It was bad but not as bad as last night. Certainly not as egregious or obvious.

I don't agree with your take, but I understand your take. I just think the techs were egregious enough in and of themselves to make this one of the worst officiated games ever.

There were more possessions with a worse call or no call in that game than any single call in this game than there were possessions without. You are not remembering correctly.

I'm not arguing that. Quantity wise I'll say you're right. But I'm speaking of the egregious lack of quality of the calls. Bad quality calls can wreak just as much havoc on a game as a few particularly egregious calls.

KU was much worse quantity and quality. If you made a list of the 20 worst calls and nocalls between the two games, I think every single entry on the list would be from the KU game. The refs ought to have done better on the 2 techs, even if they thought they were justified (and I think it's plausible that they did think so, rightly or wrongly), but I think you have to hold those in their own category to some degree, as it's hard to compare them to actual basketball calls (but if I were to compare, I'd still not list them with the more indefensible calls from the KU game)

I know the first T was for CSD leaving the box. What was the 2nd T for? And do we know why the bench was given a T? Does the ref have to give a reason to the stats/scorer?

From what I've read and watched Drew received the 2nd T for having a foot out of the box. It was ridiculous. 3rd T was on the bench or Jakus? Idk. I don't think anyone knows but the ref who called it and once he simmered down later I'm not sure he could give you a straight answer.

I was at the game and asked a cyclone buddy (get a rivals take on things) what the announcers were saying and he said they had no idea what was going on. He said he didn't see anything egregious unless Drew said something, but we all know Drew is cleaner than a Nate Bargatze set.

NC State - Wake Forrest game in mid January where Hartness was involved resulted in 6 technical fouls.

Referees Jeffrey Anderson, Trey Styons and Jeb Hartness combined to call six technical fouls on Tuesday night and State coach Kevin Keatts was ejected in the first half.

Interesting log here of officials by Kentucky fans:

Looks like his crew T-d up Calipari last January for a similar situation to Drew in the Georgia-Kentucky game (though in this case it was Joe Lindsay)
