Classic letdown game for KU. But KSU is rather mediocre.
Never underestimate the Octagon of Doom; its not quite like the Tiny Arena, but its still a thing.

K State playing quite well tonight. I don't think they are as good as the Cartoon Birds, but anything can happen in major rivalry games and this is one of the biggest in the Big 12.
Those 3 clowns from Sat night make even Kip Kissinger look good tonight..if anyone was gonna toss Drew I would have.put money on him.

Kansas has serious road issues. They're a completely different team away from Phog Allen. We need to beat them in Waco.

Having watched quite a bit of Tylor Perry at North Texas, I'm surprised he's struggled so much this year for Kansas State. I thought he'd be much more efficient than he's been for them.
Not surprising. KSU just isn't good. Thought maybe we'd see a letdown. But KSU just isn't good enough to win this kind of game.

Kansas has beaten some good teams this year but there's no way in the world I'd put money on them going far in the NCAAs. They have absolutely no bench whatsoever and won't have officials to protect them for 6 consecutive games. If any of the starting 5 get in foul trouble, particularly Dickinson or McCullar, they are basically toast.
Perry is small. He's struggled with length all season. And he lacks the freak athleticism smaller B12 guys like Pierre Jackson, Markis Nowell (spelling) had that helped them overcome their limited height.

I really wanted Perry over RayJ last Spring but it turns out I think we got the better end of it almost everywhere but FT shooting. Perry is small and not very physical.

They probably are not good enough to win this game but they could anyway because it's a rivalry games. No doubt the TangCats are playing their best game of the season.
They are aided by the problems Kansas has been having, except on Saturday vs Houston.
He gets away with more body fouls than anyone in the conference. Surprise surprise. Other bigs in the conference who do what he does get immediately whistled.
He's always been small and never been an elite athlete. And if you look at his UNT career, he had some really good games against quality competition. I'm just surprised his shooting percentages have tanked the way they have.IowaBear said:

I figured he'd at least be a reliable 3-point shooter. But they probably ask him to do too much on this roster.

Kansas St's offense is such a tough watch on TV. It's definitely not made for Prime Time.
Kansas State doesn't value the basketball enough. They have had some absolutely horrible turnovers in this game. Just careless nonsense.
This is a breath of fresh watching a game where the officials aren't carrying out a weird vendetta against the home team's coach.

They're pretty damn good defensively, but there is no flow whatsoever to their offensive game.
KSU may actually pull this out. Surprised but at the same time not surprised. You could see a KU letdown from a mile away. But I didn't think KSU was good enough to pull it out. I might have to eat my words
What's crazy is, as mediocre as we all believe K-State to be, they could leave their gym tonight with a .500 record in Big 12 play with wins over Kansas and Baylor. Just shows the depth this league has.
