LOL still using bogus tickets sold numbers; BU would be dead last if they used actual attendance (probably 7K at best)

You could say that about most on this list. I've watched OSU and OU a bunch. No way in hell either of those are averaging those numbers. OSU is lucky if they get 5k in Iba

Any more, who doesn't use total tickets sold for their "attendance" numbers?
Big12Bear

OSU and OU have the biggest difference in "tickets sold" vs actual butts-in-seats. Pretty empty up there these days.

Those BYU numbers!!

I wish they would add a column that shows the numbers vs. total students enrolled.

BYU was an incredible addition to the conference all the way around and the bonus is they are excited to be here.

Wrong

I have not missed a game. And there are standing room only fans every game. Yes, there some empty seats from "no shows". But not many. All tickets are sold

I was at the Cincy game, I remember posting about the lack of fans there. 5 mins before tip I posted it was about 5000 butts in seats; it filled in after that & by mid 1st half it was 6500 tops. The Baylor Ath Dept is being very lazy by just posting 7500 for each game without really counting fans or tickets. Its an obviously bogus way to go about it and its a bad look. Fact is they built a tiny arena and they feel the need to tell everyone they are busting at the seams in there every game, but its simply not true. 7000 in FP is fine, I don't know why they are embarrassed to report that; its better than 7000 in Ferrell.

Nope. This post is as cringe as your first one was in this thread. Know when to fold em.
MrGolfguy

Its not hard to go to a game and see its not over capacity in there (7000 capacity, 500 SRO). Its insulting that they think BU fans are stupid enough to believe it.

Well, apparently 2 are.

I've been at all of the games. There haven't been 1000 empty seats at any game at Foster. You have a hard time estimating and its very clear you also haven't been to any other B12 arenas for perspective.

That's literally every school. All count that way.

I'm certain Tcu, OSU, and Houston have had more empty seats than Bu so the list is probably accurate. I've seen tons of empty seats in the games I've watched.
IowaBear
How long do you want to ignore this user?
There was tons of empty seats for last weeks Tech game at least on TV. Wasn't there so I won't say one way or another. But it definitely wasn't full last Tuesday unless people just weren't in there seats for whatever reason
Big12Bear
How long do you want to ignore this user?
And I'll add that Baylor season tickets for Foster were already sold out before the building opened, so these 7500 figures should be no surprise to anyone who even remotely follows the team.

BU will list 7500 for every single game this year. KU, BU and UH are the only schools to be sold out before the season started in league play.
Big12Bear
How long do you want to ignore this user?
There were a few, but nowhere near 1000. And a number were on the concourse watching too. Check the photos.

There will always be empty seats at every venue in America, for a variety of reasons, which is why they go by tickets sold.

I worked for years in the industry - I know the way this stuff works very intricately behind the scenes, good, bad and ugly.
IowaBear

I can go on stubhub and get tickets to tomorrows OU game for $13 if I wanted. Tickets sold isn't butts in the seats. That I agree with Golf on. Not dismissing your points either.
Big12Bear

Of course, but the topic and purpose of this entire thread (which I thought we all knew except Golf) was attendance. It's been announced this way for years, Shouldn't be a surprise to anyone at all by now.

Nope .I was at that game. No empty seats..

You realize that at any time there are 400-500 at concession stand or restroom ..in a 16k seat arena ..not noticable.

In a 7000 seat arena.. very .
DanaDane

Sssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

You're gonna have Scott S suggesting to close the concessions permanently and put padlocks on the restrooms to solve this issue.

Not in 2nd half when that game was neck and neck.

I actually left my seat to watch it from the opposite side SRO. I could see the whole arena except what was above me but that's where I moved from..it was full.

You ignored the possibility that 400-500 were away from their seats.

It's quite simple for Baylor or any other school to provide an accurate number of people attending a game: use the number of tickets scanned. Everyone who enters the building with a ticket (including students, I think, & probably visitors) has their ticket scanned using some computer device no doubt connected to a central server. Baylor probably has precise numbers for every game and it's probably broken down by category:

Season ticket holders
Single game ticket buyers (WBB, not MBB)
Family members of the team
Visitor fan allotment
Recruiting visitors
Baylor legends (Buckle was at WBB v WVU on Saturday)
& so on

They clearly have reasons for not publicizing this info and there are times it might be embarrassing. But the data is somewhere.

OK, now i'll address it. The 2 corner sections at the top across from me were empty the whole game, and likely the two behind me. You're trying to get me to believe those people stayed in the bathroom or concession lines for the entirety of the game? You can continue to live in your fantasy world where FP is packed to the rafters every game if you like; I'll continue to live in reality where FP has had between 6000 to 7500 attendance so far this year. There's nothing wrong with that. 6000, 6500, 7000, whatever looked bad at Ferrell but its fine at FP - that's why they built the tiny arena. They just need to stop playing games & be honest with us. We're not stupid.

I guess I don't understand. I thought you were a poster that had complained that the venue was built too small. Apologize if wrong, but I thought I saw that in some of your posts.

Nothing worse than a golfer bad at counting. Sounds like a few of my golfer buddies.

I was at the Tech game and Iowa State game. I am only looking one direction (I sit opposite the teams in the middle). During the Tech game I noticed top two or three rows at the top of the arena were spotty. But no way 1000 empty seats. I didn't notice any empty seats in the baseline sections.

There is about 20-22 seats on average across in most sections (some sections have more, some have less). 7 sections, 2 rows half full means 7 x 2 x 10 (50% of 20) = 140 empty seats. Row 3 from the top was 75% full so lets say 5 x 2 x 5 = 50. That is 200 seats approximately. If the side I couldn't see was about the same that is around 400 - 500 empty seats. Add back in 500 SRO seats (if those were sold out) and yeah... probably close to 7500 people there, worst case 7000.

Admittedly this is what my Dad would call Democrat math (unreliable and half made up) but I think for this situation it is a decent estimate. Regardless count me in the no way there was 1000 empty seat crowd.

Your numbers are wrong; there aren't 7500 seats.
Capacity is 7000 fixed seats not 7500; it takes 500 SRO to get to the 7500 number

Oh, and thanks for proving my point that not every game has been packed out with 7500 exactly.

How is this an excuse? Just curious how our percentage of student and alumni population stacks up.

We have about 18,000 students on average in Waco. UT has 50,000 plus in addition the alumni that attend have a 30 minute drive or less to games. Its just different. I don't think we have any reason to make excuses.

Officially its posted as 7000+. How many does "+" mean? I am also somewhat sure that does not include the folding chair seats on the floor.

But that is irrelevant to my main point. The exact seats in the stadium have nothing to do with my estimate of empty seats. I estimate 400-500 empty seats and others at the game seem to agree. Take it, leave it. Don't care.

So 6500 to 6600 then, pretty much what I figure as well. I just don't know why Baylor doesn't post that number, its ridiculous really. Head scratcher for sure.
JP1037

Sure. My only disagreement is 1000 empty seats.

Guessing tonight might be worse. Mid week. Less care about OU. Sing is in high gear.

Don't worry, they've already penciled in 7500. Another packed out tiny arena; before long they'll rival Nebraska football.
