Uncontested dunks and layups. We gave up MANY. Wide open three's are better than that in my view.

Bad feeling you're going to see plenty more of that in the coming weeks

Was awful. Our players chasing after and 2 to 3 steps back. Maybe altitude..I guess
Many know more than me…but does Walter look like a 1 and done player?

Others would also know more than me. But it sure doesn't look like it. I don't pay attention to draft boards but I have a hard time believing his stock isn't plummeting game by game

So, I'll be the contrarian. Our defense looked like garbage, we were playing at elevation, back to back road games, officiating was garbage (two offensive fouls on Missi in particular) and we still kept the game to single digits.

Last night exposed the limitations of our zone (can't deploy against a good shooting team) and the limitations of our personnel on defense (Walter and Nunn, in particular), in man.

The big thing that really stood out to me was this was a game to punish BYU with traditional post play. Any of YM, JOsh O, Jalen Bridges, or Caleb L could have abused BYU last night if they knew how to post up (and our guards knew how to make entry passes). BYU was daring us to do it. But our offense doesn't develop those skills and young players don't know how to do it anymore. There was one play in particular where Bridges looked like he was attempting a post up late in the 2Half and he dribbled the ball completely around the key. This isn't just a Baylor problem.

In high school news, No. 18 South Grand Prairie had a phenomenal season this year. Something like 33-5. They got eliminated by Dallas Jesuit last night even though Jesuit was much smaller and missing a key player. I was at the Bi-District playoff game last night played at Creekview High in Carrollton (I had no rooting interest other than my kids being in Catholic schools, though none will go to Jesuit). SGP ran exactly two post plays last nightboth set plays out of timeouts. None featured their 6-7 starter. They lost by six. Traditional post play would have won the game for them.

Walter is one and done. The NBA drafts on potential and he oozes it. He's looked tired as of late. His shots are flat and hitting front do the rim. Moving up to a big boy schedule is real AND HE's feeling it. Both JW and YM could benefit from another year and go higher in the draft, but it would push out by a year their second contract. On balance, that doesn't make sense, so they'll go.

Walter is a one and done but he'll be more of a catch and shoot guy in the nba which is what I think he should be limited more to right now. On his one one one drives he's turning it over or getting blocked too many times.

We should have tried zone last night. What would theymake another 3 against our zone. Maybe even play two bigs at the same time. We needed rebounds last night. It is clear this team can't play man D at a high level

Based on the garbage I saw last night, I beg to differ, Pollyanna.

You mean against a top 25 team on the road?

Haha. You're wasting your time with BUGWB. His entire shtick is being a reactionary moron.

There is no world in which this year's Baylor team will miss the tournament. We could probably lose out and still make it into the field, given our current resume.

Me too. I would have liked to see it given a chance vs BYU. They got too many layups and were hitting a high percentage of 3s against our man defense. Their big guy had a couple of uncalled moving screens that led to a couple of those wide open layups but still they had way too many.

IMO, in the end, we gave up way too many offensive rebounds to win the game.

We are a lock for the NCAA tournament, so we need to quit saying that. Even if we lost all of our remaining games, we will get in. We beat Auburn and Florida in the non-conference (both top 25 teams). And, I think we have the 2nd most quad 1 wins in the Big 12.

Need to improve our defensive rotation and rebounds and hopefully snag 2-3 down the stretch.
