Interesting. Would be a coup for Missi if he could go to a team and play a few years behind an existing #1.

Confused by this quote: "He shot up six inches four years ago and went from playing guard to center."

My understanding is he didn't begin playing organized basketball at all until 3 or 4 years ago. And is the first I've heard of him ever playing guard at any level.

I thought that was announced a few days ago. Ja'Kobe Walter too.

No ..they only did 12 names a few days ago... they're doing it in waves after consultation with NBA GMs and scouts after grading workouts .

The draft is over 2 consecutive days in 2 different locations on New York so they're trying to avoid the embarrassment when someone drops in draft and now has the expense of having to stay an extra day in NY

This wasn't the first time I heard the news, about both Missi & Walter.

What I was saying is Walter was one of the original 12 invites last week. Missi wasn't in that list.

He was on the next batch released Friday.

Anything you read before Friday on Missi was pure conjecture.

Good for him

Pretty sure Derek Lively has made and is making Missi a little money this season

I don't remember when I read the reports bug they were of actual invites. That I'm pretty sure about.

If he's a green room guy, why in the world would he even entertain returning? Even if he could.

I believe he signed with an agent which would be the point of no return. $2mm NIL, still an amateur. Sign a contract with an agent, professional.

Even of he hadn't signed with a non-NCAA affiliated agent (he did, so the point is moot), the deadline to withdraw from the draft was May 29.

Even if Missi withdrew from the draft there would have been no guarantee he was coming back to Baylor. We would likely had to drop out of the bidding war that would have ensued between Kentucky, Arkansas, Alabama, Illinois and others over him sooner than those schools or we would have had to drop out of the Roach and Omier races. Missi could have made a lot of money in college next year but he will make a lot in the NBA too so the point is moot.

As a first round pick, assuming he gets that, won't Missi make a lot more money in the NBA than he would at any college? I don't know the numbers but I would expect the signing bonus alone might exceed what most colleges would have available for one player from NIL.

This is an exercise in fan fiction, since it's completely hypothetical, but Missi would have had to have entered the transfer portal when he declared for the draft, which he did not. He was always going pro. But if he hadn't, there was no indication he was ever considering any school other than Baylor.

I know your latest crusade is that we've run out of NIL money, but there's no need to make up imaginary narratives to further your case, which is already based purely on speculation.

in the 15-20 pick range that Missi is being talked about, 3-year contracts are going to be in the total package amount of $10mm and up with most of that guaranteed. I have not heard any claims of NIL deals anywhere close to that. It's hard to determine what's real and not real in NIL but a first round NBA contract you can quite literally take to the bank.

agreed. No one with a reasonable chance at a first or high second draft position will be looking at NIL options.

Rookie contract [for 1st rounders] > NIL.

But FAR more important for Missi is getting beyond the rookie contract at 23 y/o. Having a window of a solid 10-15 years to get paid on veteran contracts is a REALLY HUGE item. And the timing is equally huge. Hitting the first veteran contract at 23 is big. Hitting the second veteran contract at 27 or 28 is even bigger. The timing [player age] is such a large factor on maximizing value.

Yves just needs to continue to work hard on his game, stay healthy. I've been wrong a lot more than right on who I thought would have a great pro career, but 6-11, 7-0 with his vertical, he should do pretty well.

Statman was a poster on Bfans. Not sure if he posts anymore over here.

He was incredibly gifted at predicting something and the opposite came true.
Like predicting "BU will win this baseball game" when BU is winning, bottom of the ninth with two outs. And then we choke.

Saying his name backwards three times was the only solution to reverse the prediction curse.
