Looks like we'll be playing in the 2025 Players Era Festival in Vegas instead. Players Era pays the players directly to play in it, with the winning squad getting $1mm to split between its players. That event is looking to get 18 teams to split into 6 pods.

So far, there are 14 confirmed schools: us, Iowa State, Alabama, Creighton, Houston, Gonzaga, Michigan, Notre Dame, Rutgers, San Diego State, Saint Joe's, St. John's, Syracuse, and Texas A&M.

Ugh. Really? Ok. Not a fan of this new model of "college" athletics, but I give Drew credit for adapting quickly and just running with it. We are where we are.

Will the players actually take any money home?? Or give it back at the casinos?

After all, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.

This sounds like a Sopranos episode.

Nothing could go wrong here.

More importantly, how long before states like New York & California start to seek to tax a proportionate share of NIL earnings the way they tax NBA/NFL/MLB/NHL players for "Away" games played in their states?

Hopefully soon the players will insist that all NCAAT games be played in Nevada, Texas, Florida, New Hampshire, Washington [but not Seattle], and Tennessee. And if Arkansas' Governor has her way, there too.

Everybody wants a piece of those bigger pie slices.

It's a disappointment but if it's better for the players….

And don't give any of it to the greedy politicians!!!

What a unique idea, players getting a share of the profit from these events that make millions.

In the age of NIL, it's how things should be done.
