What's our starting five look like as of now? Roach at point? Love off bench? Edgecombe the...2?

Someone with more knowledge, please stand up!

My best guess at our 8 man rotation:

G Roach
G VJ
G Nunn
F Omier
C Josh O

G Wright
G Love
F Celestine

Asemote surely gets the nod over Celestine, Nothing wrong with Jalen, but Asemote was a top 30 player.

Assuming reasonable development and heath, the match up nightmares that Drew can create with this roster is ridiculous.

Rankings hardly mean much… Celestine is a proven player at the P5 level. Asemota is incredibly raw (albeit his upside is awfully high). The ceiling greatly increases if Jason can contribute meaningful minutes along with Celestine

Fair point. I am just really excited to see how this team comes together.

Celestine was a cold-blooded assassin against Grand Canyon. Our best player in key moments when we were down.

Asemota is a developmental guy (for us). Pro potential but needs seasoning and growth. But Celestine is a proven high D1 player... two years removed from a major injury is when players typically show the most improvement. The staff is betting on him being undervalued.

Celestine is going to be the unheralded surprise of this team. He is totally a cold stone killer….

He screams starter to me. I expect Josh O to come off the bench.

It is possible Celestine starts and Josh comes off the bench. Even if he doesn't start, he will get starter's minutes and will get more minutes than Josh either way.

CSD has always preferred starting a "true" center to begin halves so it wouldn't surpise me if Josh started halves even if Celestine gets more minutes.

Asemota will potentially be an important part of the rotation in the event of injury. For example if Love goes down again, Celestine would get more minutes as a wing and Asemota would need to be the first big off the bench.

Starting 5 looks to be (in my almost worthless opinion!) --Josh, Norchad, VJ, Jayden, Jeremy.

I don't expect to see a lot of Josh and Omier at the same time. Norchad has a history of foul trouble, so we will likely need to protect Josh; If both of these guys foul out, the only remaining question will be whether Self keeps Dickinson in the game long enough to get his 40 and 20.

If healthy, Langston is the best 6th. man in the Country. You can fit him in at the 3,2, or possibly the 4 for a few minutes if needed.
Celestine looks like an instant offense guy coming off the bench-- something we lacked down the stretch last year. He could fit in at the 3, possibly the 2.
If Wright can play d, he is going to get minutes. I can't wait to see him and VJ together.
Asemota looks like a great prospect. Question is going to be how much he is able and willing to defend and fight for rebounds in the paint. If he can, this team gets a bit more dangerous.

Just because someone is cleared to play doesn't mean they are ready to compete at a high level. Love won't be a factor until early to mid January unless his gait gets a lot better than it looks now. There will be plenty of minutes for Celestine and Asemota.

I just want someone occasionally to stick their foot in the ground and play a lick of defense.

The points will come easy for this lineup.
