I was scheduled to attend the BU vs. Gonzaga game in Spokane with a Baylor buddy of mine. He bought the basketball game tixs and I venmoed him for my tix right away. I paid for the car rental and Airbnb but didn't bill him immediately since I figured we might have some gas and parking fees to split after we came back from the game.

He emailed my a link to the etickets and I downloaded them both to my phone. I am a complete novice to etickets but figured since we'd be together it was no big deal.

He calls me 2 days before the game and says he can't come. Ok, no big deal, plans change. Then he starts harranging me to send the ticket back. I explain to him I am trying to but I am a novice at this and can't figure it out. Then he starts yelling at me if I don't return the ticket I owe him full price. Then he says, "get busy finding out how to return it or I want the price of the ticket." I try calling him to ask for help on how to send it back but he refuses to pick up the phone. Finally, the day before the game I have a friend of mine help me figure out how to return the ticket and I return it to him. He puts it up on Stubhub for $250 and finally sells it for like $100, which is what I was going to offer him but he wanted me to pay $250. No big deal. I don't care what he does with his ticket.

In the meantime I ask him to pay half the car rental and airbnb and he ghost me. As I explained to him if I had known he wasn't coming I would not have gone alone. If he had just given me his ticket I would have called it even. I asked him, "so what if you had paid for the Airbnb and Car Rental, would have expected me to pay you for my half of the whole thing?" I wasn't the one that canceled. He refused to respond.

So bottom line AITA for expecting him to pay me back for the Airbnb and Car Rental? His attitude just surprised me. We have been friends for over 10 years. I am willing to sit down and discuss this with him but he apparently has no interest. He just weirded out on me.

Send him a text, follow up with an email. But be fully prepared to eat the cost. Chances are good he doesn't respond and the friendship is over. I'm sorry that happened to you. I've been through a similar situation with my childhood best friend and it sucks. We haven't spoken in almost 13 years now.

I tried this already but he ghosted me. At this point it's not even about the money but the way he refused to even take my calls or respond to my text. I never expected such childish behavior from him.

I wonder if he is having money issues and his pride won't let him be honest with you. He needed the ticket back to resell unless you paid full price. He also won't, possibly can't, pay you back for the other expenses.

I could be wrong. He could be swimming in the money like Scrooge McDuck, but it makes me wonder.

Stone cold sober. How difficult is it to type out "Am I the a s s hole"? Not hard. I am the a s s h ole. I am the a s shole. I am the a s s hole! I am the a s s h ole???? Not very difficult. My fingers are still intact and not requiring physical therapy after this. You and Kurt need to chill.

Unfortunately falling outs like this between good friends happen often. My best friend and the best man in my wedding and I had a petty falling out about 6 months ago. Luckily we finally worked things out. 10 years is a long time, hopefully he comes to his senses and you guys work things out.
