ASU isn't the worst team in the league. That said this BU squad isn't good at all. Drew's worst team in a long long time. Nunn and Roach are both cheeks

Don't understand the negativity from so many posters toward this team. I saw this game as glass half full, not glass half empty. Call me a sunshine pumper but it takes a lot of resiliency to withstand a big 12 foe coming back on their home floor against you and still pulling off the W in overtime. This team has its flaws, but we always play with fight, which is characteristic of CSD coached teams.

This team is really starting to gel. Our team defense is looking like it will be much better than it's been the past couple of seasons. Josh O and VJ in particular have been terrific defensively and on the boards. Any time you defend the way we have the past 2 games it gives your team a much higher floor.

We need Roach to play up to his billing. I get it takes time to learn a new position on a new team, but we need him to look more like the version of Roach playing for Duke.

I like the length and energy Asemota has been giving us. He is extremely mistake-prone and foul-prone, but has better defensive potential than anyone on our team outside of VJ.

IowaBear I have a ton of respect for you as a poster, but the name-calling of our own players crosses the line.

We should give the team some grace and remember that our depth is very limited. We had only two players off the bench and everyone except Asemota played at least 31 minutes. By the end they were gassed. Despite their strength & conditioning, there still are limits to what one can do.

Crawfoso..I think some of the reasons for that is gambling..

I've never bet on a game in my life.. especially one of my teams..I don't know how you can enjoy a game as a fan with that sword of Damlecles hanging over your head.

And then when their 3 team parlay/over under doesn't hit... the players or the coach take the brunt of the abuse..

Notice the line was 6.5 last night..we won by 6.

What other reason for this nashing of teeth after a big win on the road?

A 6.5 line in an away game in Arizona, when we haven't won an away game yet this season, is as good a reason as not to refrain from betting on mbb. Sounds like way too many betting on Baylor.

I sometimes wonder if all the crap people post on here about our teams, players & coaches is because of gambling. Some of the supposed Baylor fans come across as Frog trolls.

I didn't bet a lot, but I'll say that I wasn't completely upset that ASU tied it at the end of regulation.

I've been wanting to believe this, but then the second game of our road trip to AZ we come out sleepwalking and get run off the court for the first 20 minutes.

I'm not a good enough basketball guy to have any idea what to make of this team.

I don't know much about it either but it seems to me that if they could have played with the same intensity in the first half as they did in the second then everything would have been different. I really enjoyed the comeback they put together after halftime but it was too little, too late. It reminded me somewhat of the UNC game a few years ago.

Yep, we took another step back last night. We shrink against the better teams especially on the road. Our team flaws are obvious. Not to pick on one guy in particular but we need more from Roach who is a massive drop off from RayJ last year. I expected more from a 5th year senior with his pedigree. We run a guard-oriented program but our guard play isn't cutting it. We did make some good defensive adjustments in the 2nd half, but the game was already well out of hand. This conference is a grind so we can't dwell on this one, gotta move on to the next one.

People didn't appreciate RayJ enough. Without him, last year's team would have looked like this one.

It's just unfathomable to me how little Roach brings as a playmaker. He has not been at all what I thought we were getting with that addition.

And unfortunately, Edgecombe, while talented, is just too raw at this stage to score consistently against high-level defense.

Put simply, this team needs more playmakers than it has at the guard position. And if we aren't going to be able create on the perimeter, we need to overhaul our offense to feature Omier more. Omier post ups are the only consistent offense we have against good teams.

It's time to play more inside-out. We did it with Motley his junior year. We need to do the same with Omier. He should be the centerpiece of our offense until or unless our guards hit a new gear that heretofore doesn't seem to exist.

I like Posts that signify nothing. We have a playmaker, his name is Robert Wright. The only person stopping Edgecombe is Edgcombe. He shredded their defense in the second half. Omier is our leading scorer, so we are playing through him. Last night he was in deep foul trouble and spent a lot of time on the bench, so it was kinda hard to play through him.

Robert Wright is our best playmaker, but that's an indictment of the other guards on this team. Wright is a good player who will eventually be a really good player. But he's still pretty cavalier with the basketball and gets overwhelmed at times by intense ball pressure. To pretend like he has a gear we haven't seen this year and that reaching that is all that's keeping us from being a good team is ridiculous. The guy's playing 28 minutes a game, and our offense sucks against high-level defense whether he's on the floor or not.

As for what Edgecombe did against their "defense" in the second half, both his and Roach's production was garbage time fluff. Arizona was up by almost 30 early in the second half and lost all intensity on the defensive end. When they were trying to shut us down, our guards were all completely hapless.

And Omier's offense is often incidental. It's rarely intentional. The end of the Arizona State game is a perfect example. We'd rather let a bunch of mid guards dribble on the perimeter and fail to create than give Omier a true post-up opportunity on the block. And yes, last night Omier was in too much foul trouble to contribute at his usual level. But we have one of the best back-to-the-basket post players in all of college basketball and straight up refuse to post him up for extended stretches every game. It's maddening. We should be force-feeding that guy until the defense proves they can stop him. He should get a post touch every possession.

You and I often disagree, but I couldn't agree more with getting Omier more touches. We haven't had a paint scorer like him since Motley. What I also love about Omier is he is very intelligent and unselfish. He is a tremendous passer out of the post when given the opportunity, which would open up our entire offense by giving our perimeter players better looks. Guys like Nunn and VJ are much better 3 point shooters when given time as opposed to trying to force everything from the outside-in to beat the shot clock. We are not utilizing Omier's skill set to its fullest, to say the least.

Exactly. It's not just about getting him more shots, which we should. He should be getting at least as many field goal attempts as Zach Edey got for Purdue the last two years. It's also about opening up our offense, which stagnates every time we play a good team.

When you can't consistently penetrate and draw help off the dribble -- and we can't -- you have to find other ways crash the defense and get it out of rotation. Playing inside-out through a capable post scorer/passer is a time-tested way to do that. And we have an elite one that we inexplicably allow to wither on the vine at times.

Even if we had guards of normal Baylor quality this year, I would argue that we need to get Omier more involved in the offense. Given that our backcourt isn't even close to that standard this year, I think it's imperative that we do so.

We need to be way more intentional about getting him post touches. That's by far our most efficient and effective offense. And our guards would benefit from the attention he would draw if we would play through him more.
