Why? McCasland is a .740 career head coach. Jakus has done nothing as a head coach.

I mean compared to Tang, but I do think vs McCasland there's an argument to be had, Jakus is a genius with offense, we're clearly missing him. I think he's got a good shot to end up being the best coach of the drew tree long term.


Also yeah Jakus hasn't been a head coach for a full season… there's not much HC resume to judge yet

Why? Like what is Drew doing that didn't get Calipari run out of Kentucky, and now Kentucky looks a lot better than Drew with the extreme backup they had to hire. I'll be honest I don't get why Drew would have his name thrown around for jobs at the moment.

Plus if he's not going to Kentucky he's not going anywhere he and the AD we're friends, his family is in Arizona, there's no real ties to anywhere but Baylor at this point for him.

Is there any concern that Drew has less fire in his belly these days? Or is this just the portal, we tried but failed to get the guard play we needed this year, we are hurting a bit from staff losses, and this too shall pass?

Nice thing about Jakus is that he recruited most of this roster. Good chance at retention, for what that's worth.

Doubt he leaves. Has roots in Ames. Most ADs know this. I think it would have to be a blue blood for him to consider a move. He's got it made in Ames

Didn't he have a hand in recruiting Edgcomb and Robert Wright as well? I thought they were committed prior to him getting the FAU job? If I'm misremembering that, then you're absolutely right. For what it's worth, I would take McCasland over Jakus, I was just simply mentioning one positive in Jakus direction (which, it turns out, may not be the positive I thought it was).

Oh that's a fair point, although I highly doubt they would have followed Jakus over say Drew. But yes I was thinking guys he coached not necessarily was involved in recruiting.
