CSD got lucky and caught lightning in a bottle with Teague, Butler, Mitchell, Flagler, and a team that played together for 3-4 years. And even then, there were Flo, Vidal, and Every Day John to round out a strong 5 at all times.

Sit back, remanence, and celebrate the 2021 season. Most schools never get close to even sniffing a Natty....let alone the Final 4. But.....it is looking very apparent that it is not going to happen again for CSD....or Baylor.

This year's freshman guards are definitely good enough to play in a Final Four and just might this year. This team does lack the tenacity of our 2021 team. If it wasn't for Covid that team might have been the first to go undefeated since Indiana in the 70's. You left out Mayer who saved more than one game.

Currently (January 17), we are 22 in the NET rankings. That's pretty good but not great. If the NET teams above us our record is 0-4 but we still have 5 games to play with them. Of the teams below us but still in the top 60, meaning probable tourney teams, our record is 4-1 (only loss is to UConn) with 3 more games on the schedule. This should provide some perspective. We are ok but not great and the future holds some promise. I'm not sure this team can get to the second weekend in March, though. That's been the big bugaboo since 2021.

Our net is high because we beat the piss out of scrubs. The moment we play a team with any skill we get absolutely boat raced.
Lucky for the Bears the B12 is dog crap this year outside of Houston, ISU and KU

I don't think there is a single fan on this board who is willingly to bet at this moment and drop a grand on Baylor Men's Basketball making it out of the first weekend in March 20-23....

Too many variables to guarantee we make it out of the 1st weekend. Even during the 22 season with a healthy team.
We been a top 3 seed the last 3 years and haven't reached the 2nd weekend. Hell aside from the title team we've reached the 2nd 1 time the last decade. And that was 9 years ago.

You are totally wrong about the 2022 team. JTT would have made a big difference.

I'm just gonna weigh in here and say that this board has nailed the issues regarding this team. No need to reiterate. But one of the positive things that seems to be consensus here is that we are a tournament team. I think our margin for error right now is very slim even though there are a lot of games to be played. We have to continue beating the bottom half of the league - if we drop any of those at home or more than 2 on the road, I don't see us making the tournament.

Jeremy Sochan also missed four games and was slowed in several in others. The only two players who played in every game that season were Kendall Brown and Flo THamba.

That was an elite team ravaged by injuries. No Baylor team since has been close to that level talent- or skill-wise.

The team won their first basketball championship under Drew with the 2013 National Invitation Tournament. In 2021, Drew would lead Baylor to a Big 12 regular season championship (their first conference title in 71 years), a 282 record and their first ever NCAA championship.

Here is a very abbreviated list of CSDs highlights. IMO he has worked miracles at Baylor. Hes not perfect. I dont understand some of his decisions. Thats because I dont attend all the practices, I have never coached at the same level he has coached and I dont know the players near as well. I do trust his judgment.
