Houston -KU has competition for game of year.

Arizona just hit a 65 footer from other side of half court to send it to overtime.

Amazing! Love can't buy a basket all night, something like 1-10 from 3. Then he launches the prayer and hits it to send to overtime. Then drills 2 of 2 from 3 in overtime to help them win a game by double digits they probably lose if Jefferson misses the 2nd free throw instead of hitting it.

Arizona lost 6 games in non-conference...now they are 8-1 in conference play.

To be fair.... they played a pretty tough non-conference schedule.

Schedule is context. In the day an age of unbalanced schedules they've benefited heavily this year. Just look at their schedule to date in conference play. ISU is their first good win in conference. They've beat up on the bottom feeders until last nights miracle. I think they're a good team. But their conference record is heavily inflated

Even in a season when the B12 is somewhat down (by conference standards), an 8-1 start is still impressive no matter who you are and no matter what your schedule has been to date.

Never said it isn't. I said context is key. And it absolutely is the case with AZ. They have imo the easiest conference schedule of all 16 teams this year. Up until last night they've feasted on conference bottom dwellers.

They have beat 5-3 BU, 4-4 UCF, and a split with 4-4 WVU (one game was "non-con")...and now a win over #3 ISU. So it hasn't been all bottom feeders. They have beat some middle of the pack teams as well.

Meanwhile, Houston is 8-0 with only one win over a team better than .500 in the conference (they too have beaten 4-4 WV and 4-4 UCF).

Could be said for everyone near the top outside of Iowa St. Az has played a better schedule than Uh. The big 12 just isn't that good and a middling Arizona team (based on their standard) could win it.

The elite narrative only formed on the back of Ku and Bu being elite. Both haven't been very good the last few years. The league isn't close to elite when that is the case.

Iowa st and Houston haven't had enough national success to make up for that and they are more "system" teams.. and they do it extremely efficiently. They are the two hardest playing teams in the country.

If Wvu can become consistently good again (Arizona blew them out in Morgantown) then that might change things. Tech might have something to say as well.

I've seen the theory floated that NIL has somewhat democratized FBS as we saw a weakened SEC this year.

Wonder if there has been a similar cooling effect on B12 bball.

The SEC BB has firmly passed the B12 imo. Will that continue? Who knows. But right now that league is superior to the B12 on the hardwood
