Probably not a better point guard in the country. And I'm not talking freshman.

Let's just hope some blue chip doesn't offer him a few million next year to transfer.
Baylor is going to have to pony up some money to keep him in Waco.

He didn't give Drew a Missi problem but he's likely on the path to giving Drew a Jeremy Roach issue (may take Roach-like $ to keep him).

Although, from all reports he had many more offers come in than what we're paying him and he stayed loyal on his commitment with us for around 2 years so there's some evidence of a special bond between Wright & Drew or someone on Drew's staff.

If that.

Even Chris Paul, who he frequently gets compared to, had to stay in college two years.

I was higher than anyone on Wright and that's wild. Fortunately dude will need to show competent defense at his size before the league takes him. I do believe he is a pro though, even at his height.

I love Rob Wright. He's not the best point guard in the country. That's silly.

He could be by his junior year, though, if he sticks around.

He flashes like crazy, but he's got to improve his consistency. That will come with time and experience.

Hopefully the last two games will give him the confidence to play at an elite level more often -- as VJ has during this recent run of excellence.

I'm thinking he could sneak into the first round after his junior year. If he really takes off after his sophomore year isn't out of the question

He's played great the last two games. He's still not the best point guard in the country. But that type of hyperbole is on brand for you.

Wright is good, maybe very good. If he sticks around he has potential to be much better. He should be even more fun to watch next season.

82, how far can Wright, Vj, and Omier take us?

Have to wait on VJ's medical update. If healthy, potentially all the way. We have 2 players no one can guard.

Will he go in the same NBA lottery as Matthew Mayer?

If we have multiple dudes that no one can guard shouldn't the Bears be undefeated? Fairly certain they have 7 losses currently. Hard to fathom how the Bears could have 7 losses when we have 2 guys that not a single team can guard.

And just two wins over good teams -- both of which required near-miracle comebacks to secure.

Today was awesome. I'm super proud of everyone involved. But no one with any basketball knowledge thinks this team is capable of winning a championship.

I know a thing or two about BBall. If you'll recall, I called our Championship team the best team in College Basketball since the start of the one and done era. That was early in that season. Now we are in the transfer portal era and I don't think anyone can assemble a team with the same caliber of players that came off the bench for our Natty team.

This is not a great team. This team has two great players and the complimentary players around them to make a deep run in the Tournament and potentially win it all. You take Wright and Edgecombe off the team and we are not even an NIT Team. You could take any two players off our Natty team and that team was still a good NCAA Tournament team.

Wright was spectacular but one great game doesn't change his lack of NBA measurables.

Even CP3 wasn't one and done. I'm confident Wright will make the NBA but will need another year or 2 due to his lack of measurables.

Chris Paul was physically stronger earlier and was an underrated athlete. Also talented on defense from day 1.

I agree though that Wright's skills have a place. Several of us have been very high on him. As he gets physically stronger, more consistent, and proves he can be at least a wash defensively he'll have a spot

I knew just watching that he wasn't the greatest on Defense, but I didn't realize until this afternoon when I was going through defensive metrics from 3 different services that there are only 4-6 players in the entire Big 12 with worse defensive efficiency ratings. He literally has negative defensive ratings (which is next to impossible), which essentially means we're playing with 4 defenders. I guess the good news is that 1 of the 6 below him is the starting PG at Tech.

Definitely sounds like something to work on over the next 3 years to compliment the really good offensive skill set.

And it will be more $ than can make professionally. Maybe not here, but he'll get paid..

He has more willingness than say a Cryer (before Uh). He has better athletic upside to play it too. But he is really struggling on that end.

Outside of size though, he has the basic tools. He has really good coordination, decent feet laterally, and really good feel for the game. I think he'll get there, but my obvious concern is with our coaching and development on defense.

I've seen the same metrics and they are wrong. He is a player on both ends. It's not his fault he's switched onto a center and they score on him. That is a scheme issue, not a talent issue. Metrics don't see any variables other than the raw numbers.

His size would be a big issue if he was a shooting guard, but he's a point guard. Speed, vision, and hand to eye coordination are the most important attributes, not size.
IowaBear

Yeah believe 82 and not the metrics!! We're going to the Natty!!! 82 said so!
Anyone with a set of eyes can see that Wright is horrendous defensively. Elite talent offensively no doubt about it. But Rob Wright would get eaten alive on the defensive end in the NBA right now to the point he would be unplayable. He's going to be playing college ball in 25/26
