Another offensive board kills us

I hate ESPN! I can't watch the rest of the game because I don't have ESPNU.
He's part of the reason I'm not giving Drew and staff a pass with the excuse "we didn't have enough money." We still had money when we brought him in instead of front court reserve. He was sold as a stretch 3 or 4 and he's been a streaky shooting guard his entire life. He was never gonna be an inside guy for us and we were full of guards. Plus, he was just another guard who couldn't play D very well.bear2be2 said:
If Celestine isn't going to knock down open 3s, he brings very little to this team.
When you have such a narrow skill set, you need to bring that skill consistently.

Still within striking distance. But will need a big run soon

We are just so bad at D.

Nunn has just been absolutely brutal this year. Celestine is what he is. A 3pt shooter whose borderline unplayable when he's not hitting 3's
Agreed, but at the end of the day, Houston is just better than we are.boykin_spaniel said:
This has been a tough watch. So many self inflicted wounds

It could have been closer than it was. But the biggest reason it's not is that we can't handle their intensity on defense and the offensive glass. That's something Houston brings every game.boykin_spaniel said:
They are but without the self inflicted wounds I'd at least hold out hope we could sneak it out at the end…

Just truly inexcusable that Drew decided to go into the season with literally no backup bigs.
He's a project. Every team has those guys. Our problem is that we don't have enough rotation guys in the front court.Johnny Bear said:IowaBear said:

Curious if when we awarded a scholly to the big Croatian dude we had any clue he was at most a practice player barely capable of playing the last minute of occasional blowouts.
We just beat UCF by almost 20 with this same roster. We'll overwhelm several of the bad teams remaining on our schedule. Houston is just really good.IvanBear said:
I'm questioning how we win a single game. You can't win with five guards on the court. That's what any competent coach will push us to.
