I'd say acquitted. The actual perpetrator was a dismissed Kansas basketball player if you follow the evidence. The whole thing was a money play.

Played 3 years at Tech and 2 at Illinois. His game took off at Illinois. Had arguably the best single season in Illini history which is impressive.

As someone who grew up in Champaign as an Illini fan before going to Baylor, what happened at the ceremony was such a disaster. Kudos to the AD and Shannon for their response.

Sort of stunning that they retire his number after only 2 years. I could see how someone involved with the presentation might hang it upside intentionally ....many other great former Illini players who deserve recognition over Shannon..
