This "oh his defense sucks," and "he was bad in the ncaa game" is a lot of cope. He was supposed to be learning this year in semi limited minutes but drew refused to recruit an experienced point guard to the roster. Wright is one of the better freshman multi year point guards I've seen in the last couple years. He's earned the hype y'all would be giving him if he was here.

The real problem is Drew has no one now to fill the spot and it will burn us again for next year too when we grab a senior to fill the role . He should go tamper for a better guard with a few years of eligibility left as well clearly there are no rules.

Saying Rob Weight sucks defensively isn't coping. He quite literally is ass on the defensive end of the floor. Do you actually watch the games? Or do you just make **** up with little bball IQ? Honest question.

Your last sentence is the issue. The days of highly rated or productive guys being willing to sit on the bench are basically over. Like I said in a different thread, a modern basketball coach has to be able to take a random group of dudes every single year and make something happen with them. Trying to plan for even just two years in the future is fine but will basically be in vain after you lose 3+ players to the portal every year

It's absolutely cope to bring it up now. Absolutely everyone expected him to be better next year in that department, regardless of our questionable past with coaching D is. If he's going to be the same guy next year that he was this year then he shouldn't have been the center prove everyone wants him to be. His value is all about projection of a good year for an undersized freshman point guard and good intangibles. Trying to reframe him now as a crap defender who shrunk in big games is cope, that's not one anyone expected from him next year.

Norchad's weaknesses and lack of discipline was always a dumpster fire for this team and he proved it perfectly in his last game having to once again ride the bench and sink any chance we had because he couldn't avoid stupid fouls.

That's not calling for him to be fired. That's just a fact, allegedly we had Grant ready to sign if Drew left. Tech under Grant clearly has the brighter future right now, he thus far has shown to be a coach much better equipped for the NIL/Portal era. Frankly most coaches we would have been in play for are showing a better awareness of what it takes to recruit and team build in the portal era. Are you going to radically change your story now and say that Drew's team building isn't a mess and won't lead to success? Was last year a success?

Drew has earned every right to do whatever he wants at Baylor, he did the impossible and won a national championship here, so I'll never call for his head. But that doesn't change the fact he doesn't look like he's ready to properly handle this era of college basketball. It doesn't change the fact that he's not moving off his strategy of paying for five star freshmen and overvalued seniors in the portal for an overachieving second round finish in the tournament.

If I 1) thought Drew had more than 4-5 years left or 2) saw him actually changing his recruiting strategy changing I would think maybe he will adjust his strategy one more time and make another run. Heck I was hoping he'd change his tune this year, he certainly started to act like he would, but seeing the roster thus far talk is clearly cheap and he's not figured out how to get out of the rut he's put himself squarely in.

You're just extremely butt hurt by Wright leaving, it's exceedingly obviously you're having a meltdown about it on these boards. Get over it man. I hope he flops massively at the next school because I'm a fan, but I can't begrudge him taking possibly the largest payday he'll ever see for paying basketball, he shouldn't stay here for relative peanuts to appease some random fans.

And on Omier he has one of the lowest basketball IQ's I've ever seen. This isn't up for debate anyone who knows ball admits that knows it, he was a 5th year player who played like a high schooler. The fact he was arguably our best player says a lot about how bad our team actually was last year. The dude had tons of talent and zero discipline to effectively use it at the level it should have been used.

Im not having a meltdown by any stretch. College athletics is just ******ed at this point. And 99% will agree with that. Unfortunately I'm talking to a full blown ****** who resides in the 1%. BYU fans are generally a friendly bunch, but they have some pretty ridiculous blind spots when it comes to the misgivings of their university, its representatives and the Mormon church.

Their Ned Flanders act is often endearing, but it gets really annoying when they start defending indefensible actions/positions and act like everyone who disagrees is persecuting them.

It's not all that unlike the modern evangelical church, unfortunately. Minus the friendly and endearing part.
