Reporting it now on ESPN. What an incompetent boob the man was, and the trade will go down as the worst trade in the history of sports.

I can believe some of you bozos defended it.

As he should. Giving up Doncic has to be the worst trade ever. Or at least 1 of the worst ever.

Especially as the oft-injured return in the trade has missed the last 5 games with yet another injury.

Total unmitigated disaster.

I posted on the Mavs thread that former Bear and current Pistons President Dennis Lindsey in the mix as replacement.

This dude completely wrecked a healthy organization and alienated a loyal fan base and now gets to bounce and wash his hands of it. Such a ridiculous situation.

Nico needed to be fired obviously. That was one of the worst trades in pro sports history the day it was made and everyone knew it at the time. But that whole franchise is rotten. Cuban nuked it when he sold out to soulless ghouls who couldn't give two ****s about the DFW area or its fans.

I would like that. He seems competent.

I lay a lot of this at the feet of Cuban. But it's because he's pretty soulless himself imo.

As for Nico, will go down in history for wrecking an entire franchise for a decade IMO. In addition to horrid trades, the Mavs lack the draft capital to rebuild because of his awful decisions.

After next season, they won't have a first round draft pick until 2031.

They are completely screwed as a franchise.

I agree. I just said the exact same thing to my brother a few hours ago. This franchise will be wandering the wilderness for a decade.

The rumor about the new owner wanting to move the franchise to Vegas is true.

And it wasn't Nico's idea to make the trade, he simply followed orders.

If that's true, then he better have some massive payday and a nondisclosure, because he tanked his career over it.

As historically dumb as this trade was… I wonder if it inadvertently is going to take Luka to even another level in his already amazing career.

It seems like maybe it was a wake up call to him to finally take his health seriously.

We have seen previous seasons in Dallas where he starts the year in shape but then loses it. We will see if he sustains his good health and weight this year. He is off to a mind blowing start this season. It stings every time I hear about it.

No way he made that trade. (Alone)

I'm not sure how he even has the authority to.

Well said.

I'm a Fire Nico guy, but firing Nico doesn't make this feel a whole lot better b/c the rotten core still remains.

As I sing the Smiths in my head, I'd have never bet Cuban would sell the Mavs. And to the Addlesons? I'd have bet Statman's balls that that would never happen.

Honestly, I hope this is true.

My preference at this point would be for the Mavericks to move to Vegas and for Dallas to get an expansion franchise that I could root for without holding my nose.

The current Mavericks are going to suck for as long -- if not longer -- than an expansion team would anyway with their lack of draft capital. Now would be the perfect time to start over with a new organization that doesn't make we want to puke every time I think about it.

I can't imagine this GM job would be very attractive to outsiders given the new ownership and the massive hole the team has been put in.

We have to hope (and this is highly unlikely) that AD and Kyrie can comeback and go on good runs of personal play so we can get something of value for them before the trade deadline to have a chance to start acquiring young talent.

I'm so jealous of the way Spurs have been able to build around Wemby. We aren't in any position to do that with Flagg.

In fairness, it took the Spurs six years of absolutely sucking to get what they have now.

But without first-round draft picks, Dallas is going to have trouble building around Flagg.

Before it's all said and done, Nico will have traded one generational talent and wasted another. That's quite a legacy.

They're not out of the woods, yet but they have a lumberjack. They get there. I may be one a fan.

Whoever the new permanent GM is will have to trade Anthony Davis and Kyrie to get some draft capital.

There will be a desperate team that'll do that trade

And what the hell is up with Derek Lively?! He's turned into Anthony Davis with all these injuries.

Yeah I was at the game last night and noticed Dumont and Cuban walk into the tunnel in deep convo.

Had not seen that at any game this year. Hell this was Dumonts first game since home opener

Technically true... but also it was no secret that AD is constantly on the injured list. That was a big gamble he took.

Also...it wasn't a blockbuster deal...but trading Quentin Grimes for Caleb Martin was so bad too.

Draymond has terrible takes. This is another in a long line.

The reason it hasn't been on the court, dumbass, is because Nico traded for an old, oft-injured PF who is never healthy. In fact, the dude was injured at the time of the trade. That was one of the main reasons everyone was up in arms.
