This beats the heck out of a tourney in Hawaii or Alaska from the POV of the players, coaches, donors and CBS.
I'm no fan of NIL but this is a cool way to do it.

Sounds like a good deal for the Big 12.
- The Big 12 is acquiring a 15% stake in the event rather than the event acquiring a stake in the Big 12.
- Top 8 teams from the conference will compete.
- Players Era has guaranteed a minimum payout of $50milltion over 6-years to the Big 12 basketball programs. (sounds like there could be potential for more but this sets the floor)
- Tourney will be Nov. 24-27 (which is opening tournament time anyways)
I'm assuming the Big 12 participation will grant the tournament some buy-in and credibility. The Big 12 is a deep conference so the Top 8 teams is pretty good list. Although, I bet they rotate some of the top teams with the bottom to keep appearance equal.
