Does Tang survive another ncaa tournament miss? Just got ran out of the building by Bowling Green

Oof. Third loss in a row and was extremely fortunate to beat Tulsa in the dying seconds. They really shouldn't have won that game.

Driscoll left his longtime HC job at UNF to join Tang this year, while Peterson headed to Manhattan as well.

Former BU players Henry Dugat and Mark Vital are on staff as managers.

Watched this game. It was no fluke. Bowling Green looked like a much better team across the board. Maybe Kansas St was just off tonight. It was the first time I've watched them this year.

Always a fan of Coach Tang, but with all the NIL money they have, their roster the last two years has been strange. Last year they were way overloaded at Center/PF. Haven't seen them this year, and Haggerty is a big time scorer, but this is his 4th team, which suggest a Kiffin-like need to ramble or some other issues.
If they let Tang go before May 1st 2026, his payout is $18.75mm, so I would expect he has some time there to get it straightened out, which I expect he will.

I just can't see him surviving a 3rd straight missed NCAAS (if they miss this year) they're giving him tons of NIl money. I think he's a decent coach. But I think think he struck lightning in a bottle with the Nowell&Johnson pairing that took them deep his 1st season

If he gets let go by KSU and if this is something he would at least consider, I'm sure Drew would welcome him back on our staff with open arms. I don't think it's a coincidence that we haven't been able to play defense ever since he left.

I'd see him going home to Houston.. maybe Kelvin Sampson retires in next 2 years.. his son takes over.. and adds Tang as a veterans presence on his staff.

Gonna be patient with Sanchez. We are extremely early in the season and team defense takes a while to gel. Great potential individual defenders but the entire team is new. By February we will hopefully see a difference.

The most important move long term this past off season was hiring Sanchez. Defense should improve as we get player(s) back from injury and as they get comfortable with the system. Real benefits will be year 2 and 3.

Same. I like Tang, but it's looking like he makes a better lieutenant than a captain.

I'm sure it sucks for K-State fans because he looked the real deal after that first season.

If Tang doesn't work out at K State, he is one of those guys who probably won't have to go back to being an assistant unless he's deadset on being at the P5 level. There are literally almost 200 mid major head coaching jobs and several would likely consider him for the head position. He has the national championship pedigree as an assistant and the head coach of a K State team that made the NCAAs. He has the positive persona, professional image and there's almost 0 percent chance of a scandal because his conduct is exemplary. The AD of a mid major can sell that to the school's donor base pretty easily.

Mid majors are full of head coaches with marginal records who have been at the same school for 10+ years because they are safe enough to win a decent amount of games and dependable enough conduct wise not to embarrass the school. It's just not that cut throat beyond the top 10-20% of mid major programs.

Selfishly I'd love to see Tang return as an assistant here, but once he's been at his current level I assume he's probably gonna be more interested in head coaching jobs.

Drew staff can't get any larger or they will need 3 rows behind the bench...

This is the perfect description of where the BU powers that be are regarding football these days. Sobering.

The defense we are playing this year is a welcome change and a vast improvement over previous years. I am not certain that today's defense isn't better than the defense Tang produced; the difference we had when Tang was here were potent centers with several continuous years of players at 7' or better.
