I don't think it's a matter of ' making the cut ' as much as choosing which one .

Supposedly top 2 teams that didn't make NCAA from Big East..Big 10..Big 12..and 2 from other conferences.. reportedly West Virginia has accepted a bid ..

Fyi..the CBI has announced it's not being played this year.

What Stefano said.

Big 12, B1G and Big East all committed their top 2 teams (largely based on NET) that did not make the NCAAs to the Crown. Then, there are 2 at large teams to round out the 8 team bracket. Oklahoma St went to the NIT because they knew they weren't in the mix for the Crown.

Cincinnati and Baylor should be the 2 reps based on NET. WVU media and fan sites say they have already accepted so I'm assuming if that's true then they were 1 of the 2 at large teams. I haven't seen a statement from Cincinnati yet saying they aren't going to any postseason tournaments due to the firing of Miller, but I could have missed it. I know Indiana and Seton Hall have both stated they are not accepting post season invites to any tournaments so the invitation starts moving down the path in those conferences from there.

Main issue I see with the Crown is that it's not until April and some players may decide to enter the transfer portal (not talking about Baylor specific; just general statement) prior to that date.

What a disappointing end to a disappointing season. Just wrap it up now and find some players that can actually play once they start getting checks. Because these guys aren't it. Especially former nba flame out.

Coincidence that this is on April's fools day?
I'll watch because I am a sucker for Baylor basketball. It does bum me out to not have our team in the real tourney, but the opportunity for the guys to get some extra cash and practice time is better than not playing at all. If we can keep Carr we I'll have a solid building block.

I'm glad he didn't decline. This program under Scott Drew is many things, but entitled is not one of them. I like that we have a coach and players who want to play and compete. I'd be more concerned if we didn't.

Funny how some of the ones arguing we did not deserve a bowl seem to love this idea of playing in some random tournament below the NIT, CBI and whatever the other tournaments were/are that no one knows even exist. I bet some of the ones celebrating this tournament hadn't heard of it until today.

Literally no one is celebrating this tournament. but it's not below the CBI, and the suggestion that it is just shows your own ignorance.

The College Basketball Crown, like the Players Era Festival we played in earlier this season, is an NIL tournament that pays players directly. As such, it is at worst on a level playing field with the NIT and will likely be the preferred destination for most programs.

And the difference between this and the football situation is we didn't need a bunch of teams to decline this to get offered. We're not accepting charity by accepting this invite.
