This would be a violation of any real player contract, as opposed to whatever mickey mouse nonsense we seem to be using.

So other teams are issuing contracts restricting their players from riding on ATVs?

With UK's disappointing season, Pope was apparently told it was time to blow up his staff so 2 of his assistants are gone so far and another two are apparently also looking for jobs.

Tennessee had a guy contemplate the portal and his dad, who played for Saban, sat him down and talked him into staying so he could develop, work his way into playing time, and get some tough love from Rick Barnes to improve his on court game and off court life.

Igoudala will maybe be of that mold and stick around to develop. One can hope

He's really not. But we've lost several others who weren't either.

These guys have too many people whispering sweet nothings in their ears. Very few are getting good, objective advice from people who actually have their best interests at heart.

I'd be surprised if there are still NBA execs who would spend a first-round pick on him after last night's game. It's not that he's a bad player because he does a few things really, really well. But he's not going to be able to do those things in the NBA, and he doesn't currently have the skill set necessary to be an NBA shooting guard.

Pretty shocked by this. He's a force and I hope we are in the conversation

While 9 ppg and 6 reb. are good numbers, are they truly worth $3mm? Kareem averaged 26/15 for his college career. What would his NIL value be?

Seems like a good portion of our fan base thinks Tounde's decision is either NBA or Baylor. No one should be surprised when Tounde does exactly what Bidunga is doing -- declare for the draft AND enter the transfer portal, where he will have the opportunity to maximize his value.

We would still have an opportunity to retain him if he's in the transfer portal, just like Kansas still has an opportunity to retain Bidunga. But in all likelihood there are several programs with big dollar budgets who can afford to pay Tounde a lot more than we would be able to afford if we want to have a complete roster. And those programs will be fine because they have enough money to supplement his deficiencies by buying other players, given their large budgets.

Relationship with coach used to be one of the primary motivators for college basketball players, but that has been overtaken by the money game in the eyes of parents, agents and most players. There are a few exceptions to the new rule but not many. Hopefully, Tounde will be one of them.

Obviously any player could leave at any time for any reason. But I do think Scott Drew's culture and Baylor's general atmosphere gives us an advantage in these situations.

It's not as transactional an experience on our campus and in our athletic department as it is many other places. I think that appeals to a fair number of athletes.

Tounde is different! 100% a loyal guy and would never leave us.. right?!

I have nothing against Tounde but would not be devastated if someone out bids us for him. We first gotta prioritize multiple multi year players a PG to pair with Williams and an elite big.

Obviously the decision was reached but I would be curious to see what Drew would say about the UNC conversations if asked. Did his agent facilitate? His name was hot two years ago but I think his name at UNC wouldn't have driven a lot of excitement. I think he had a real good chance at a solid year next year. Arizona and Houston are likely to lose a lot.

Kind of funny that we took all the slings and arrows on this one and he barely contributed and we may not retain him.

Since so many schools took such issue with us getting him surely no one will approach him… Right?

Early noise surrounding Baylor in the portal:

- We're in the driver's seat for San Diego State transfer Miles Byrd, the rumor is he prefers to commit soon. Competing with Kentucky for him. 8/10 on confidence scale, I think he'll end up in Waco

- Haven't heard anything definitive about Tounde, this is purely my feeling but I don't really expect him to be on the roster next year, whether it's by transfer or the draft. Hopefully I'm wrong, would like him back for the right price.

A couple other guys I heard that we have talked to are Justin McBride (JMU Forward, from Plano), and Alex Wilkins (Furman PG).

It seems like the goal of this cycle is to return to the things that worked well for CSD for most of his career, PG play, rebounding bigs, switchable defenders/shooters on the wings.

Byrd would be HUGE -- a 6-6 guy who played both guard and wing and won the Mountain West Defensive POY.
