My interest in college athletics has gone down so much that I doubt I'll be watching Baylor at all within a few years. This simply isn't enjoyable. There's quite literally zero rules. This isn't sustainable and eventually it'll all blow up. But unfortunately before that happens the death of college athletics will have happened

Fully agree. I will always watch Baylor. But it has destroyed all joy I once had as a fan of the game.

Agree with both of you guys. Feel the same.

Unfortunately, the ratings for college football and bball seem unaffected. As long as the money is coming there will be no motivation to change things.

Oh I agree. I didn't want to knock on White.

Just tempering expectations as he needs a lot of work on defense and playmaking for this level. I do think he'll be able to bring in some instant scoring and secondary ball handling next year.

Yeah most likely just a situational player when we need shooting but who knows, maybe he surprises

Not real but I wish it was. Would have been fun to see if someone could convince a rich troll to send him to BYU-Idaho.
Noooo evidence for that, babeeyyy, just maaade it up.

We're close to halfway through the transfer portal period and the only departure thus far has been Nnaji. I'm somewhat surprised by that, as I thought we'd have 3-4 guys hit the portal. Certainly still a long ways to go, and I would not be at all shocked if a couple more went right before the deadline.

Really good player, would have the best backcourt in the country if Drew landed him and the Mingo brothers

We didn't secure a commitment so its looking less likely now..

It's my understanding that him and his brother want to play together, so OU would have to appeal to both. I'm more worried about Nova than them but we will see

I don't think we want both. I think we just want the older brother

Apparently the reason him and UNC parted ways was money related. Maybe that's a turn off for the staff, I haven't really been tapped into whispers since the Byrd flip, still annoyed lol. Heard bama is chasing the brothers right now which is a bad sign for us on top of the other competitors

I say pay them both, price tag is probably somewhere around 7mil. Gonna have to spend 15-20mil to be competitive these days anyways

My read on the UNC situation is that Mingo never signed his LOI, because he was waiting to see if Hubie got fired (he did). When Michael Malone came in, he didn't love Mingo's fit at PG, but was willing to honor the commitment, as long as Mingo signed the LOI. Mingo's camp held out to renegotiate terms, thinking UNC was desperate to keep the class together, and overplayed their hand. Terrence Brown (Utah's leading scorer last year) visited the same weekend, and they cut bait with Mingo and are pursuing Brown now.

Why do you like them so much? Very polarizing prospect. Mingo's shot hasn't progressed and the athletic pop is overrated imo.

Solid quickness, handle and size. Points to high upside but might not bring the production. High upside defensively but freshman rarely show it consistently.

Don't have a strong opinion either way but package deal is questionable as bro can't shoot either.

Kayden has good touch, playmaking, respectable defender. Dylan less polished offensively but defends really well and rebounds really well for his size. Think the rest of the roster has enough shooting infused to survive both of them being lackluster

Truthfully, just tired of having guys that don't take pride on defense, feels like we haven't had one at guard since off night. VJ was good but the rest of the roster was full of cones so you didn't really feel it, Keyonte was fine-ish, Walter and RayJ underwhelming, then you had guys like Flagler, Nunn, Akinjo who were whatever

Seems like the Mingos have some pride, they got one over the Boozers once in HS which barely anyone did. Could be wrong, that's just the impression I get from them

Nunn was a very bad defender. No lateral quickness or footwork couldn't stay in front of anyone. Same with Walter that year.

Akinjo was a bulldog defensively and Flagler held his own. The rest I agree with.

If this is true we're good but its the part I really don't trust. The Liberty guy can't be in all game as he's a defensive liability (currently). I don't see much shooting outside of him and Williams (freshman).

I do like that Drew is focusing on players entering their second year. There's real upside there, since that's often when you see major leaps if the scouting evaluation was accurate.

Admittedly I don't remember Akinjo all that fondly, so I'm probably cutting him short a bit. Always thought Flags was just a guy on that end. Wouldn't ever really lose you a game with his defense but was never someone I wanted on their best guard

Although I think CSD runs some ridiculous lineups at times (mostly bc of a lack of talent), it should be entirely possible to stagger our non-shooters enough to not have it be a season-altering problem

Houston had a number of lineups with complete non-shooters when they first jumped into the b12, taking a page out of their book and getting back to some real Baylor defense is worth the risk I think

He was.

Came to Baylor as an All-A-10 Honorable Mention defender. Pretty good on the steals too.

I've never understood the hate on Nunn. He wasn't Mitchell or Vital but that's like expecting all of our safeties in football to be Jalen Pitre. I'd happily take Nunn right now if he had a year of eligibility.

Having Nunn of it.
Can you name one area where Nunn was an above average P4 player? He seemed like he was slightly below average in every area. Not bad, simply below average. But a decent fellow.
Hurricaneweatherfan

His defense was pretty above average, his quickness up and down the court, as well as on drives, was above average. Whenever he got to the bucket, however, he turned into prime angel reese (doesn't finish)

He regressed his second year with us and was not a starting caliber player. On defense, he was a turnstile. Decent straight line speed but very poor lateral quickness. Couldn't stay in front of his man.
