I was just trying to clarify. Getting drunk is not exactly the most responsible decision, though.
that is just your opinion and that is more than fine. If you don't want to drink, don't.
It's the opinion of most adults and this comes from someone who has probably been drunk 4 or 5 times since I left college ( not my best decision and definitely not smart ). Drinking is fine getting drunk just isn't good for you and most people don't make the best decisions when intoxicated and that's not even talking about driving.

still your opinion which means no more than anybody else's. And this is coming from a guy who rarely gets drunk. Even when tailgating I tend to not drink that much. The internet is all make believe, I'm more often completely sober at a game. And I rarely drink at home or at dinner ect. But if someone wants to get drunk, I don't care. As long as they are endangering me then I'm not worried.

I'm all for anybody not wanting to drink. Doesn't affect me. I'm also all for people who do want to drink. Also doesn't affect me. Like any things you do in life, be responsible & as long as you aren't negatively affecting others, carry on

Do you seriously think that any drunk driver actually intended to do that? Of course not. But they did choose to get drunk. Alcohol is a drug that impairs judgment. This is not opinion but fact. Most drunk drivers think they are fine & can drive safely. Impaired judgment. It began with getting drunk. That is irresponsible. Any attempt to justify it is just a lame excuse.

Whether or not I drink is immaterial. That is a choice (or an opinion). Responsibility goes beyond opinions, as with moral choices in general. For the record, I already said that I don't think drinking is inherently immoral and I've been known to drink on occasion. Getting drunk is on a different level. It's irresponsible because of the impaired judgment. Thankfully most drunks don't go out for a drive but they may just as well do something as stupid or criminal.

You are as human as the rest of us. I make more than my share of mistakes & sin all the time. I'm not trying to be judgmental I just know too many people whose lives have been ruined by booze & other drugs, directly of indirectly.

I've been arrested twice for for DUI. I thank God every day that I didn't kill someone. I've also been sober for 14 years now and I have made a life for myself so I'm also thankful for 3rd chances.

Not sure what the appropriate discipline should be. I hope he doesn't have a drinking problem. Because when you have a problem, your need to drink outweighs the consequences. If he doesn't have a problem, then a DUI plus the public embarrassment should be enough for him to never make that mistake again.

Sage advice. My heartfelt and sincere support for your sobriety.

We have a drunk driving problem in this country. Sometimes the measures seem Draconian, but the intent is really and truly to save lives.

Be the designated driver.

While I agree with you concerning most drunk drivers, there are some who plan to get drunk and drive themselves home. My alcoholic uncle is a good example of that. It is strange, but my family was grateful for the two times he went to prison because he couldn't kill anyone with a car in there.

Thank you for sharing that. I think that would be pretty rare. I hope your uncle received the help he needed. Dealing with addictions is extremely difficult. What AA does for many people is amazing.

Non-story. Move on.

The man is a grown ass adult, and life happens. Just like they do to all of you/us. This is a nothing story, except the pathetic losers out there will make it a big deal simply because of the celebrity in it. Those that do are the cancel culture in full effect. The cancel culture in this country must be squashed.

We all fall short of God's standards.

It's mainly because Few is in such a prominent position. He is a national figure & a leader. He needs to be held to a higher standard. He probably won't be because too many people think it's not a big deal. Too many people thinking the same about drunk driving in general. And that's one reason why we have so many people killed every year by drunk drivers.

I'm not going to be complacent about it.

Complacency? It is called hypocrisy. If you take even one sip of alcohol, like I believe that you have admitted to, then sir you are a hypocrite on the subject of drinking. Just own that.

Now that's just being idiotic!! Or trying to put words in my mouth.

I said from the beginning that I did not think alcohol was evil in itself. One sip (or even a glass) of wine is not the same thing as getting drunk.

Some trolling like some demented cow!

Listen, just get off your high horse and you'll be fine in here. To say that Mr. Mark Few should lose his entire career and livelihood over one DUI is idiotic....and cancel culture-ish. Don't be the cancel culture....Mr. teacher of this country's youth.
