What non P5 schools would qualify?

Off the top of my head without research, I would assume Gonzaga and Villanova. Any others?

Nova had one aberration of a season in 2011-12 with 13 wins. But otherwise, they've been fairly dominant since Wright has been there.

We are all free and easy with Blue Blood titles. That is reserved for UCLA, Kentucky, Kansas and North Carolina. You then have a second group with Indiana, Duke, UConn, etc. Then you have Arizona, Florida, Villanova, etc. They have have won titles. I put us in there with that group but we have a chance to move up with more titles. Lots of rows below where you will find Horns, Aggies, etc.

We aren't a blueblood, but we might be on our way. Someone has to be the first to say it, even if they're wrong.

We do have a ton of recent success. But blueblood have sustained success. I'd say 3 titles, or multiple winning coaches over decades, gets you blueblood status. If Drew wins here another 20 years, we will be blue as could be.

Syracuse has 1 natty, but a bunch of Final Fours, same with Georgetown Would they qualify?

Baylor wins a ton but 1 conference title since 1950 or whatever doesn't seem blue bloodish

That said, a 2nd natty should put us pretty firmly there. Maybe Drew has the desire to try to maintain this success for another 15-20 years and he's just getting started at an elite level

If Kansas is a blue blood, then Duke certainly is. I say both are, along with UCLA, Kentucky and UNC.

It all depends on how one defines blue blood. Maybe it doesn't matter. After all, it's not a magic word. However, there is no question that Baylor MBB is nationally relevant. Winning 18+ games for so many years, going to the tourney do many times, & being the reigning national champion go a long way upwards establishing a program.

If we have another banner year, Coach Drew should be CoY material. It's a shame he didn't get it last year.

Actually, I don't believe there really is anything that is blue blood except for Octopuses and Horseshoe Crabs. Now they are as blue blood as it gets, but humans? Nah! All red bloods and if American Red blooded. Hope this helps. You Elitists are sooo dumb. Just read, will ya?

Would agree with his list. Pauley Pavilion has not been packed recently, hopefully they support their team this year.

UCONN has National Championships in 3 different decades under 2 different head coaches.

Yes. That qualifies.

In my book a true blue blood program has had multiple coaches win at least a Final Four or National Title.

I did not know this until about a year ago, but the Duke basketball program was actually above average before Coach K. I'd been under the impression that all of their accomplishments were under one coach.

Duke basketball had been to numerous Final Fours before he took over. They did not break through and win their first title until the early 1990's.

That's why if Duke is a blue blood so is UCONN. Both of them were basketball programs that had been above average for many years, and that won their first (of multiple) NCAA titles in the 90's.


There are people that think Coach Drew will end up being the next Coach K, and that Baylor basketball will be the new Duke of the Southwest.

The first time Coach Collen gets our Women's team back to the Final Four they will officially be a Blue Blood. They are pretty much already there.

Not too long ago many wanted drew fired.

Our name is starting to ring. Its pretty cool to see Baylor listed among the best of the best.

Its not far fetched to think that in 10 years that Baylor could be a household name when people consider what a Blue Blood Basketball program is.

Coach Collen has the BIGXII title under her belt. She needs to get the Lady Bears back to the Final Four.

Drew needs another National Title and couple more deep tourney runs.

People are starting to take notice that we've accomplished some major things in hoops over the past 20 years.
Baylor's name is starting to ring all over the country.

They are now most certainly a Blue Blood basketball program.

Gonzaga only has 2 Final Fours and no National Titles. They are not a blue blood.
Without the National Title they would need at least 4-6 Final Fours to be even in the conversation.

Blue Blood is the best of the best....not just pretty good.

It all depends on how one defines "blue blood". I think by most reasonable standard, Baylor is there.

We're heading in the right direction, but remember that the championship season was the one that brought us above .500 all-time. It's gonna take another 10-15 years with deep tournament runs, multiple national titles and conference titles before anyone calls us blue blood.

Some are already calling Baylor a blue blood. But if we manage to continue winning 20+ games per season, making regular deep runs in the tourney (hasn't happened yet), & win another natty more will be saying it.
