On a positive note, Egbo needs 11 points to be our 39th 1000th Career point scorer!
That's great news. She is huge in our potential success this year.
The problem was that she (along with Jordan Oliver) was not given much playing time even during blowouts last year. When we needed her when Didi went down, the backup was not nearly ready for prime time. I have never understood the reasoning why Richards and Ursin were kept in games that midway through the 4th quarter were decided and our backups for Richards and Ursin were given little playing time to gain game experience against P5 teams. They said yesterday she averaged 11 minutes a game last year. But that was skewed because of significantly more games against the sisters of the poor and not much once the conference season started. If she had had more experience against quality teams, we might just have gotten past UConn. But, that is conjecture.Baylorkid said:sicem45 said:With the exception of Smith, Kim didn't leave a boat load of elite players or a core as strong as previous teams. Criticizing the work CNC has done to this point doesn't make one a hater. Just a realist. She has the pressure to preform with a solid group of players. The players she is putting on the court are 2x as good as Kansas' roster. That game should not be close. She can implement her system, but she has to work with what she has. She isn't doing a good job of that yet.
I think Nicki is doing the best she can given the circumstances she walked into. She has gotten more out of Sarah Andrews than the last staff ever could.
She was playing behind talented seniors in moon, carrington and Richards! Obviously she wasn't going to get much playing time!

Thanks for posting this. Other than the obvious clutch performance in the last minute, what stands out to me, is Egbo's excitement and spirit captured in the video. Queen is still in it to win it.Dcheetah said:

Great clip for sure! You know we were scoreless from the 3:59 mark to about the :12 mark, when Asberry hit the 3 to pull us within 1...After the steal and the foul, Asberry hit both free throws to put us up 1..They missed their final shot, and as Frank Fallon always loved saying..."This One Belongs to The Baylor Bears!" Exciting game, and CLUTCH shooting by Asberry!historian said:

A common complaint and criticism of all coaches not just Kim... however that is just the way it is and always will be...you have to keep your kids sharp and ready to go...I thought Kim worked extremely hard to make sure kids were not overplayed...see her average minutes per game for major starters usually down around 30 minutes a game or fewer. Checkout the average playing times this year for our Lady Bears you will find our starters playing heavy minutes and our subs playing very little despite a limited bench. all coaches are trying to win first, and they have to keep their top kids ready to play. I watched the LSU game yesterday before our game and they beat Vanderbilt fairly easily. She cleared the bench in the last few minutes of the game and in her interview, she was griping about the subs allowing Vandy to go on a 7-0 run to close out the game last 2 minutes or so and close a 25-point lead to 18... classic Kim. Those girls on the end of bench need to make the most of their time no matter how limited. You also need to remember that COVID cut short the time Kim and other coaches were able to work with their new ones before the season began.blackie said:The problem was that she (along with Jordan Oliver) was not given much playing time even during blowouts last year. Speaking of the best head coach in Baylor history...............................where is Coach Art Briles these days?lookin4awin said:
Matt has been gone what two full years? I am sure Mulkey chatter will die down at that stage. What KM does is also a little more interesting in that she is coaching another D-1 Power 5 team that is slightly ahead of in the polls and we could potentially play in the tourney. She additionally coaches two of our former players, and for a while a third in Ursin, one of our most popular players ever. I was mainly answering the prior post who seems to think it odd there would be interest in a former coach. I think it would be odd not to. Care to count the Art Briles posts since he left. But, that, like Mulkey is a situation that sets itself apart from the standard former coach situation. I agree.

Best and winning are not the same. Briles won a great deal.BleacherBum95 said:Speaking of the best head coach in Baylor history...............................where is Coach Art Briles these days?lookin4awin said:

You thinking Steele is the best?
Maybe a little early, but hope so.blackie said:
We still have the best coach in our history.
I agree on the WBB coach, but that is not who I was referring to. Since Briles was brought into the conversation, that opened it up to other sports besides football and WBB. If its still not transparent, I was talking about Drew.Keyser Soze said:Maybe a little early, but hope so.blackie said:
