With Baylor WBB winning the regular season B12 and reaching the finals in the B12 Tourney, the members of Team Mulkey are wiggling to explain themselves.

Reality: everything that the haters have been spewing since last Spring has been publicly proven to be utter nonsense. The Clan of the Clueless are trying to dance away from their idiotic positions but the internet is forever.

Reality: Coach Collen inherited a roster mess. She inherited 7 players and was able to obtain 2 more players at the late date. One of the inherited players was a complete malcontent. The staff succeeded anyway.

Reality: despite the limited numbers, the team was able to grow and thrive. despite the limited numbers, the staff was able to manage minutes in a workable manner.

Reality: Coach Collen inherited an incredibly undersized roster. Last year, the perimeter defenders were 6'1 Richards, 5'11 Carrington, and 5'6 Ursin (who could really jump). This year the perimeter defenders are 5'5, 5'5, and 5'6. None are great leapers. That lack of size causes defensive rotation issues, rebounding issues, and the rebounding issues impact the ability to create transition offense. The team nevertheless succeeded.

Reality: the staff was installing an entirely new style of offense. The new offense works. Allowing the posts players to catch the ball (1) on the move and (2) in space at the elbow, in the short corner, and at the mid post eliminates many of the constant double teams they faced last season. The idiots complaining about the O in December are rewriting history now.

Reality: the staff was installing a new defense, and it isn't the D they want to run. The roster is far too small to run the preferred Switch Everything Perimeter D. And if they ran Mulkey's switch nothing, go over every screen, soft show D……well that would be a disaster [still give up open 3s and wouldn't have any size on post help]. So the staff has done a nice job creating a Frankenstein D……sometimes over screens, sometimes under, sometimes switch. Sometime soft show, sometimes show, sometimes hedge, sometimes hard hedge. The team generally does a nice job making the right reads [Egbo continues to have issues].

Reality: Coach Collen has faced numerous hateful people in Waco. A Baylor coach going to lunch in Waco shouldn't have to listen to crap from the Angry Army of the former coach.

Reality: the staff obtained a Top 10 recruiting class is a super short window. The staff is fixing the damaged relationships with multiple summer programs left by Mulkey.

Reality: scheduling isn't easy when smaller schools who play for the $$$ are told that scheduling Baylor means that LSU is no longer an option. Spiteful nonsense.

Reality: one side honestly follows the term of the separation agreement, one doesn't. The term guardhouse lawyer comes to mind.

Reality: many of the "I was wrong about Coach Collen" crowd only admit their error in conclusion but conveniently ignore the false statements that their conclusions were built upon, ignore the personal attacks they made toward anyone whom disagreed with their nonsense, and ignore the false data that they cited.

Reality: the same people that make idiotic comments about this staff's game attire willingly ignored the garish choices of the past.

Reality: throughout the entire Baylor athletic department, the happy dance continues. Addition by subtraction. The new staff is a great bonus. Everyone rowing together in the same direction and liking the people around them is a solid change.

Reality: the changes aren't even one year into the process. Imagine the progress by year 3.

Reality: ask former players what they think. Ask other Baylor coaches what they think [privately]. Ask the Admin [privately] what they think. Ask the coaches of Summer programs what they think.

Reality: look at the budget position.

Reality: the Clueless Clan owes a ton of public apologies. And not basic "I was wrong" apologies but detailed "here are the hundreds of ways that I was wrong and acted like an ass towards folks that knew much more than me" apologies.

Depends on the tree that left the stump. Dozing it out disrupts too much good ground, leaving a big mess to clean up. Letting it dry a bit and then pouring the diesel to it, followed by a match works best. It will take awhile for it to complete burn out but it will leave a nice piece of ground that'll be productive.

Mulkey will continue to be brought up because the media (a.k.a. ESPN) will continue to bring it up. Heck, they still bring up the mess Scott inherited and that has been what 20+ years ago or close to it, if not. The success or failure of future teams will be compared to Mulkey's run here. There will be comments concerning the different style of play. If you think it is going away, you are probably making it to be too simple. If the facts that resulted in the split, the true facts, without slanting them to an agenda, whatever one's agenda might be were known or not made less harsh because it makes someone look bad, whether Mulkey or the school, the speculation could end, and with that, much of the discussions. But even that might not make a difference any more on just about any topic. People now a days are told the truth and they won't believe it because it is not what they want to hear or want to believe.

The split was just so chaotic, ill-timed for the program, mysterious and then convoluted by people coming on here with "facts" that they pulled out of their behinds, that it is naive, IMO, to believe it just goes away with one season. It needs to, but it won't.

Baylor fans may not be the best in the world, but they are sure near the top of the list in being terribly hard to budge from positions they built either on fact, desire, or opinion because someone was involved they didn't like. If you don't believe that just look at the fiasco with the Baylor Alumni Association which to an outsider was a total embarrassment.

I've said this before. At some point we were going to have to get to a post-Mulkey situation. It has just come a bit sooner than most people imagined. We are past that point. It is time to celebrate that we haven't dropped off the map and the future once again looks bright.

AP you are going to get a lot of blow back from the people you referenced without actually mentioning names - no need to they will and have already ID themselves. You and I have had our differences but its always been about basketball never personal. Watch your back man the knives of the personal attackers will be coming out for you.
I have been conflicted for some time now about posting some of the negative crap Nicki has had to endure from "Mulkey fans" - You beat me to it - so I am going to cover your 6.
CNC had nothing to do with KIM leaving and yet some "fans" thought it a good thing to harass her in public and bad mouth her on social media or wherever the opportunity presented itself when she came here to be a part of the solution and not part of the problem knowing full well what a formidable task it would be replacing an ICON like Kim. What a bunch of a.... holes !
Your points about smaller schools being threatened is factual, what you did not mention was BU was bad mouthed to recruits (If it happens this recruiting season I will start posting names, dates and their messages). Despite that the incredible job of pulling in a top recruiting class with such limited time, then there is the roster mess left for CNC because of substandard (By Baylor standards) recruiting. Yes, absolutely- the team roster was left in a mess. Many just do not want to admit that and even worse they claim the team would have had a better record if Kim had not left - in their dreams !! It was a disaster waiting to happen - and CNC turned it around. It's not a coincidence BU WBB started playing better basketball when the one malcontent on the squad was encouraged to move on and the smiles started to appear on the players faces as they became more and more comfortable with the new system they were being asked to play in. The W/L results back that up.
Your also right the atmosphere around the entire athletic department is so much happier now. I have to go back to the late 70's early 80's to see a department so supportive of each other. Make no mistake about it these ladies play their hearts out for CNC !!!! That should tell everyone all they need to know about Coach Collen.
Don't hold your breath. No matter what success CNC has in the future there will never be any apologies from that crowd of haters - but several apologies are due her.
I am NOT a Mulkey hater and those who know who I am know why that is true. Kim needed to leave for her health - financial (LSU could do for her what Baylor could never do) and physical health. She looks so much better now and the ol fire is back so let's MOVE ON
I for one missed your posts and I look forward to bumping heads again - welcome back.

AP. You've been gone a long time. Hope no family emergency or hardship. Welcome back. You might have gently slipped in the side door rather than kick in the front door with both guns blazing. I'm happy with NC and would not even trade back for KM. The future is bright for BU wbb. And as you prophesied, I have grown to love the new, pro style of offense. I must say, however, KM has shown much more relevance and staying power than you supposed. Her dated ways have turned a failing SEC program into a three seed the first year. So there is some truth on both sides of the equation. Yes, NC is both a great coach, and a great person. We are all fans. But KM, is not irrelevant and outdated In college wbb. She is still getting it done at the highest level. Both can be good coaches and NC, herself, made it clear she did not want to face LSU. And if they had played (or unlikely, do play) I'll be pulling for BU and NC. I don't wish LSU well, but have no need to diminish Kim's past or present accomplishments. Like her or not, she is legendary with nattys at every level.
On another topic, looking at the class coming in and players staying, what do you see our transfer portal needs and how many players do we need to pick up to achieve depth.

The Usual Suspects don't worry me. They blather loudly but know little.

For them:

Use Mulkey as a yardstick for recruiting to attack Coach Collen all Summer & Fall = OK
Mention Mulkey's thin roster, strained relationships, etc. to defend the new staff from those unreasonable attacks and they scream that it is time to stop mentioning Mulkey.

They wrongfully attack the new staff for anything & everything = OK.
Mention Mulkey's slug trail throughout the athletic department and their willingness to have it swept under the rug and it is "get past Mulkey".

They wrongfully moan about the time needed to install new O & D schemes which they do not understand and they make insanely incorrect analysis of the coaching decisions this season = OK.
Defend those decisions and point at hurdles being overcome = bad, don't mention Mulkey.

Mulkey has done a satisfactory job at LSU. Anyone care to guess how many ranked [ranked at the current time] teams LSU beat? Sad to say, but any school pouring $ into WBB can reach the Top 25 quickly.

If stating the obvious is Guns Blazing, so be it. Honestly, most WBB coaches are shocked simply by being recognized. To be berated for replacing another WBB coach isn't normal. It is truly embarrassing how the alleged fans have treated our new coach and how they and some parts of the former staff have gone to great lengths to undermine the new staff.

Think they would ideally like:

Experienced Post/Rim Protector that is athletic and can face up and shoot from foul line or foul line extended and short corner.

Stretch 4 who is a solid 3 point threat.

Deep, deep, deep 3 shooting guard with size. Floor spreader.

Creator/ball handler.

That is the Pie in the Sky Wish List. Think they would be happy to get 2 of the 4 and ecstatic to get 3 of the 4. The most immediate need is the post.

Blackie's take reminds me that Baylor fans that disagree on defining hot topics (Briles/Rhule/Aranda & Mulkey/Collen & BOR/ADMR) takes the same path as most Southern Baptist Church's that sadly go through an ugly split. Forget what is best for the Kingdom, this is about ME and MY opinions and experiences and I'm not budging until we burn the whole thing down, if that's what it takes. Regardless of the issue (the church organ, contemporary vs traditional, choir robe color, relocate/grow vs stay/contract, etc...) it all comes down to selfish rhetoric that completely ignores the impact that rhetoric has on the big goal (what's best for BU athletics right now!). We need to grow up and acknowledge/respect our past successes (and coaches), but put all of our strength and effort into the current leadership and its future. Now, we have a big weekend of basketball...what time is prayer meeting?

AP, you have had zero words to say on the topic of Baylor women's basketball for 2.5 months. Even our dang resident Longhorns fan has offered congratulatory words on some of the team's bigger wins during that period. The first thing you do upon your return is start talking calling people "clueless," "idiots," and similar epithets (and ironically complaining that someone else might make personal attacks in the very same post).

I don't personally care what your opinion is about 1) Mulkey, 2) Collen, 3) Auriemma, 4) Jimmy Fallon, 5) Putin, 6) Fred Flintstone.....you get the picture. And considering the nearly universal positivity toward the current team and coach here, there is not a thread of justification for it.

Some of our respected posters seem to give AP some extra latitude, otherwise I would highly suspect a troll. While many of us have supported both our new coach and our old coach, and certainly our players, and have tried to douse the flames of bitterness and dissention, AP brings in a blowtorch to stir it all up again. I expect that hate and bitterness for Mulkey is a hard pill for AP to swallow. Let it go.

I surmise that APs diatribe is some sort of misguided answer to statements made at or on another venue. If so, it should have been handled there.

CNC exceeded my expectations. We not only competed for but won the Big 12. That is a great accomplishment! If there are those that expected her to meet Mulkey standards already, or even in the future, I think that is way too much to ask. Certainly, she shouldn't be criticized for what she has achieved.

As for the WAMs, they' are misinformed and senseless. Mulkey's record in every aspect of WBB speaks for itself. She is respected by her players and most coaches throughout th league.. Yes, she has a little more Patton than Bradley in her character and never claimed to be perfect, but she gave Baylor everything she had for 20+ years leading us to phenominal national success, and if respecting that makes me a Mulkeyist, I'll gladly claim it.

Maybe a good way to move on is to affirm and be grateful to Coach Mulkey for what she did here and bless her in her new position.

In addition to that, affirm that despite a lot of skepticism and criticism from more than a few here, CNC has done a tremendous job taking us forward, despite the said skepticism and criticism.

As in football, there are multiple ways to be successful in basketball. Mulkey presented one way. CNC presents another.

I liked Mulkey's fire and passion. CNC has the same, but expressed differently.
